Keymonks are a species of small mammals who have steadily cultivated a presence on our timeline. It is unknown how they initially arrived here, but the prevailing theory is a random timeline tear between our reality and theirs.
This species is tan in coloration and covered in fur. They have long tails, which the creatures can wield with incredible dexterity and also serve as an extra limb, as well as two arms that protrude from either side of their central body. This central body is flat and round, with a long nose the extends out almost as far as the tail does behind them. Unlike a keymonk’s tail, however, their nose is quite hard, and it ends in a series of downward facing prongs. At only two to three inches long, there is a distinct resemblance between these creatures and a standard house key.
Keymonks use their nose to express a startling ability. This thin feature can be inserted into most standard locks, at which point it will alter its composition and create a useable key. Unless a lock is specially crafted, or functions with additional security features, a keymonk will be able to open it approximately ninety percent of the time.
Possessing standard animal intelligence, this species is known for their mischievous nature. They are scavengers and thieves, often breaking into homes and raiding the pantry for food. Other than these inconveniences, however, keymonks are relatively harmless.
