(Timeline Tuesday #141)
Cluebick’s are a mysterious creature from a distant layer of reality. From our perspective, they are almost unrecognizable as a lifeform, defying categorization in many ways. It is unknown how or where cluebicks gain sustenance, and they do not appear to have a lifespan or a clear reproductive process.
This species is a wall of floating cubes in a four by four arrangement. Cluebicks hover anywhere from an inch to five feet off of the ground, and move with a strange, slow grace. There is nothing physically connecting the cubes, which always maintain a four inch distance from one another as they glide in unison.
The pieces that make up a cluebick’s body are each approximately a foot across. The front of each piece typically sports a symbol, which can change based on what the creature intends to communicate. There are six hues that make up these visual expressions: orange, yellow, blue, light blue, white, and brick red. Typically the displays are presented as some kind of simple geometric combination of shapes or lines.
Cluebicks routinely approach living creates and offer them a specific symbol pattern as a way of communication. These symbols will work together to form a riddle or game, and if a viewer is so inclined, they can solve this riddle to receive a prize. Cluebicks do not carry prizes on them, but will lead or follow the viewer to their destination where something of value can typically be found.
This desire to create enigmatic puzzles appears to be the only significant motivation that cluebicks possess, aside from a vague sense of self preservation. Still, it is believed that cluebicks only avoid instances of physical harm so that they may continue doling out puzzles and games in the future.
