(Timeline Tuesday #137)
Sadas are an incredibly unique and bizarre species of sentient object from a nearby timeline. In many ways they resemble a standard living coda can, and those with an untrained eye may assume that’s exactly what they are. However, sadas are much more.
Physically, these creatures stand at approximately five feet tall. They are cylindrical in shape, with a long, rounded body that’s constructed by aluminum. Sadas sport arms and legs in the places one might expect from a humanoid, and this familiarity makes them easy to empathize with and connect to. Traditionally, they wear grey shoes and gloves, and their body features a swirling design of grey and red. Within the body of a sada, their lifeforce sloshes around in liquid form.
The face of a sada rests at the center of their aluminum frame, giant expressive features in a constant expression of sadness and grief. This is not just an expression, however. Sadas are in a constant state of unease, moping around and speaking in a slow, monotone voice. They tend to always see things in a negative light, a true embodiment of the “glass half empty” philosophy.
However, this is not a problem for the species. Sadas have somehow become one with their own bitter outlook, creating an emotional baseline and rarely moving from it. Despite consistently being sad, they never become too upset to function, and this is also true for and potential joy or happiness.
Thousands of years ago, sadas were brought onto this timeline to serve on the courts of kings, acting as a sort of balance to the court jester. These days, many appreciate their presence as a reminder that it’s okay to be sad sometimes, and even some of the dreariest species have found a welcome home on this timeline.
