(Timeline Tuesday #132)
Dreamkeepers are large mammalian creatures hailing from a nearby timeline. They are approximately fifteen feet tall, but seen from the ground it is often difficult to determine a dreamkeeper’s actual size. This species is covered in bright pink fur, sporting a humanoid body with two arms, two legs and a single head from which their long, floppy ears hang. Some have said that dreamkeepers bear a distinct resemblance to rabbits, although it might be more accurate to say their anatomy aligns with that of a cartoon rabbit. The head of these creatures is unusually large compared to the size of their body, and their eyes take up most of their oddly relaxed face. Many describe the appearance of dreamkeepers as “sleepy.”
Little is known about this species as they do not communicate with humans in any traditional sense. Any attempts to interact with dreamkeepers in a meaningful way will cause them to immediately return to their home timeline. However, their calm and benevolent nature has caused many to see dreamkeepers as pleasant guests, and a welcome addition to many city skylines.
Dreamkeepers appear floating above densely populated areas, drifting back and forth during the evening hours. They come equipped with large nets, and can often be seen swiping these nets through the air as if they are catching and collecting an invisible force. Many believe they are capturing dreams.
While there is no way of determining exactly what dreamkeepers are doing, this subconscious sleep connection comes from the fact that many people report vivid dreams featuring this species on the evenings they appear. Often the creatures will take a passive roll in a subject’s dream, quietly watching from afar.
