(Timeline Tuesday #82)
Germlins are a species of enormous green virus. They are so large, in fact, that they’re clearly visible without the use of a microscope, standing at approximately three feet in height. Germlin body frames are not static, constantly shifting and moving to create a variety of shapes, but they typically mold themselves into a basic humanoid appearance with two limbs for arms and a head-like protrusion on top. Germlins also have two to four eyeballs that float around within their gelatinous body, and one or two large mouths that feature several rows of sharp teeth. The outer rim of a germlin is covered in small, sensitive feelers, which they can use to gather information about their surroundings through timeline vibrations. This species is capable of basic levitation, floating approximately one foot off the ground, but they cannot use this ability for speedy, complex flight.
The gremlin is a legendary creature on this timeline, and it is believed these small mischievous reptilians are somehow related to the germlins of other worlds. Gremlins are known for causing havoc in mechanical devices by simply existing within their proximity, likely by bending timelines towards disaster through some innate ability. Germlins work in exactly the same way, only instead of mechanical disaster, they cause chaos in organic, biological material.
Anyone who encounters germlins will likely find themselves stricken with a variety of ailments, some of them common and others shockingly rare. Fortunately, the sicknesses caused by germlins are rarely deadly, but in a few cases of extreme, prolonged exposure, death can arise.
Because of this risk, germlins are seen as an immediate threat to any timeline they arrive on. While they cannot be hunted by traditional means, bleach is incredibly toxic to this species.
