(Timeline Tuesday #73)
(NOTE OF CHUCK: sorry this was note posted on tuesday buckaroos old chuck got caught up in holiday trots but here you go)
Gorms are a mysterious species of humanoid from a distant timeline. These entities are approximately human-sized, completely hairless with rounded, slightly bulbous heads. They do not wear any clothing, but appear to be unphased by extreme temperatures. The most notable physical feature of a Gorm is their distinct pinkish purple skin.
Gorms are a controversial species, seen as a dangerous invader by some and a relatively harmless enigma by others. In truth, we may never know the answer, which is what makes Gorms such a powerful and puzzling force.
It is unknown why Gorms arrive on any particular timeline, but their appearance is always first noted when someone discovers a Gorm sitting quietly in a natural place. Usually, these creatures will appear in the woods, but they have also been found on beaches, in deserts or even in city parks. The Gorm will give little attention to anyone around it, just resting in silent contemplation as they gaze off and lose themselves in thought. Even physical harm to a Gorm will not rouse much of a reaction.
Gorms will sit until a curious being approaches and asks why they are here or what they are doing. Gorms will almost always shake their head and refuse to answer, sometimes offering up simple excuses like “you don’t want to know” or “I shouldn’t tell you.”
If a Gorm is pressed long enough, however, it will finally whisper into the ear of their questioner. What exactly the Gorm says is a subject of intense debate, and so far no recordings have ever successfully been made. Those who hear the words of a Gorm will immediately find a place to sit nearby, taking a similar position as the Gorm as they stare off in contemplation. Over the course of the next week, those who hear the words of a Gorm will transform into a Gorm themselves.
Because of this frightening process, most Gorms are quickly contained once they arrive on a timeline, surrounded by fences so the curious public cannot submit themselves to this cosmic knowledge. However, it does not appear Gorms intend to cause harm, and most of them try their best to refrain from giving up their otherworldly secrets.
