Forgivers are small invertebrates from a nearby timeline. They are approximately three to four inches long and their coloration is a distinct pale yellow. In many ways, these creatures appear similar to the natural slugs of our reality, and biologically they function in fundamentally parallel ways. They move slowly through the world on a singular foot, which rests along the bottom of their entire oblong bodies, and are helped along by a distinct slime that will often leave a trail. This pad uses a distinct muscular undulation to propel Forgivers along, moving at approximately twice the speed of our natural slugs. This creature also features a singular eyestalk at the top of its head, leading to a large, circular eye. These eyes are always some shade of blue, but can range from very light to a deep, almost black hue of navy.

Forgivers are unusually intelligent animals, and have a particularly honed sense for psychic turmoil. It is not entirely understood how this sense works, but in practice it allows Forgivers to travel for miles at a time when they detect someone in a state of profound guilt. Once a Forgiver arrives, it will approach their target and communicate through basic, short-range telepathy.

The exact words these creatures use will change, but their message remains the same. It is almost always some form of “you are forgiven” or “I forgive you.” Forgivers can communicate in any language, and have even been reported to deliver their messages through mental imagery. Once this message has been delivered, a Forgiver will likely move on to its next recipient.

It is unknown why this species is so committed to their singular task, but the vast majority of a Forgiver’s lifecycle is dedicated to forgiving others.
