VLIMP - N/A TIMELINE (THE VOID)

Vlimps are a species of enormous, floating invertebrates who hail from the endless cosmic Void. The creatures range in size, from thirty yards to one hundred yards in length, but their age has little to do with this measurement. The creatures feature a slight variation in coloration, from dark grey to black, and sport five long tentacles that hang down from the center of their bulbous form. Vlimp bodies are rounded, but oblong in shape, and feature a wide opening that runs across their lower half. This massive slit is used to filter food from the air, like birds, insects or pollen. The mesh within this gap works in a similar manner to the baleen of whales, only it accepts much larger prey.

When a vlimp consumes any food it is swiftly digested, then emitted from the back of a vlimp as thick, toxic gas. This is the creature’s method of propulsion.

Those who breathe the toxic emissions of a vlimp will immediately succumb to Void Madness. While this mental state has many different permutations of behavior, Vlimps cause any sentient being under the influence of their madness to approach the creature and willingly be scooped up in the Vlimps tentacles. Captured creatures will then be pushed into a particular section of the Vlimps mouth and consumed.

As frightening as vlimps are, they are fortunately quite easy to avoid if you spot them coming. This species is incredibly slow, and they often have trouble floating against the natural wind because there is no weather for them to contend with inside the Void. Bad weather can also kill or injure vlimps, prompting them to deflate and slowly plummet. The most dangerous time to encounter this species is on a calm, quiet night when they cannot be spotted against the sky.
