Charlie Hounds are otherworldly canines with stark yellow fur that features a black zig-zag pattern down the middle of their body. While their frame is that of a typical dog from this timeline, they also sport a strange, bald head that sits atop their neck. The cranium and face of a charlie hound is vaguely humanoid in appearance, although their eyes are particularly beady and their mouths are unusually wide in a single, lipless slit. Atop the forehead of this creature rests a single curling hair.

All this is to say, despite their similarity to the beloved canines of our reality, charlie hounds are notably disturbing in appearance.

The lifestyle of these creatures is similar to that of a dog, with a few distinct differences. First, the bark of a charlie hound sounds less like an animal and more like a mumbling human, a bumbling cascade of meandering, senseless syllables. Canines of this reality have trouble communicating with charlie hounds, as do humans, although trainers have made incredible strides by using trombones and other brass instruments as their commands. Charlie hounds seem to relate to these particular sounds.

Second, while these creatures are not typically fans of playing fetch, they cannot help themselves around footballs. There is something about the color and shape that’s incredibly attractive to charlie hounds.

While charlie hounds are almost entirely carnivorous, preferring raw meat over dogfood, they will also readily consume and enjoy peanuts in massive quantities.
