2024-09-12 01:00:52 +0000 UTCThe Soviets were occupying Romania in the first episode and were part of the Allied forces in ww2. We wouldn't have beat the nazis and won ww2 without them. The Romanians were wore torn and miserable and didn't really distinguish between them and the nazis, who were previously occupying Romania before the Soviets kicked them out. And despite being allied with Americans and the British, there was still a lot of anti communist propaganda aka red scare shit going on in America and the UK. Hence why that one dude asked Louis if he was a "Red," and saying something disparaging about communism.
