I get why people, especially those not from Europe, are confused about the setting. German authors often set their stories in other countries. I guess Mona Kasten chose to set her story in England because, unlike Germany, it's a monarchy with an elite and renowned universities like Oxford, which fits the story better. In England, wealthy families with celebrity status are just normal, while the super-rich in Germany tend to live more private lives and stay under the radar. However, the series' authors didn't stick consistently to the English setting. Ruby write in her notebook in English, and James writes a card to Ruby in English, but their text messages are in German. Plus, the series was filmed both in Germany and England. The whole story is supposed to take place around London, somewhere between London and Oxford. 😊
