we both went into this reaction with zero expectations or standards because we both had never read or seen any previous adaptations of Persuasion. that's probably why we left it feeling like it was really good.
we think they wanted to create a Jane Austen story that was easily accessible to a modern audience, perhaps for those not as passionate about Jane Austen and her works.
we get it though. Jane Austen stans go hard.
regardless of how you feel, we do hope you still enjoy the reaction 💚

2022-08-01 16:35:05 +0000 UTCPersuasion is my favourite JA book and I think the reason I couldn't stand this adaptation is I felt they didn't even read the book or if they did, they removed Anne's core personality. If it was just another 'modern' period film then it was ok but i couldn't.
