Refining the sketches - biker-girl story

Hey everyone,

This week I’ve been making quite a lot of art for the biker-girl story, and something else as well :)
So, here is a short overview of what I made. I hope you will like it!

The bike

So let’s start with the bike. Last time I already made a sketch for it, so now it was time to turn it into game-art. Here you can see my step by step proces.

And this is the final result.

Now as you can see, the bike tactually consists out of several parts. And by breaking it up in parts, I hope to be able to give it a vibrating motor, and an interesting hover animation.

The biker-girls introduction

Next I worked on a set of introduction poses for the biker-girl, where I again went through the proces of turning rough sketches into the final game-art. Here is an overview of the poses that I finished so far.

Biker girl getting tattooed

And here you can see another example that refinement proces. The pose below belongs to another scene where the biker girl is startled, while getting a new tattoo (lucky for her it’s a very safe proces in the future! )

Now I must say, really enjoy drawing the more dynamic poses like this one. I actually used to draw a lot of these poses when I still made action based comics. But now there isn’t much oppertunity to do so, since most of the game is about characters talking. However, I do tend to add dynamic poses wherever I can- needed or not….I guess that’s why Keen falls a lot in game :)

Well,  here is the refined scene where the pose from above will appear. I’m still tweaking the mood a bit, but this should basically be it.

Plorks ship!

Now to change things up a bit, I also designed a spaceship for Plork this week (part of the Doctors story).

A while ago I started making extra ship-art, so that the spaceships on the map can be seen from the bridge. And to keep things consistent I wanted to add Plorks ship there as well. But since Plork's ship was never before visible on the map- I had to design that first . And here it is!

I based the design on the existing the ships interior, and added a few characteristics of Plork himself to it as well. And after finishing this ship, I redrew it once more to match the perspective of the bridge- and made this.... Yeah, I had a lot of fun here, animating those wings :)

Phew, I did a lot of drawing again- But things are progressing nicely I think!

I still have to draw a few more of these poses, and a lot of facial expressions too... but then most basic illustrations for this story will be done. However, I was thinking about drawing  some of the more sexy content first- like the striptease sequence during arcade mini-game. Hmmmmm, yeah, maybe I'll just do that :)

Well,
have a nice weekend & and till next time!
All the best,

-Robin

Haha- you discovered my secret passion! I actually love drawing machines as well. Not the super complex machines with thousands of parts, but machiens where you can still kinda see how the parts work together. - This year I even visited two huge factories, just for fun (during a guest tour) - one of them was Mentos factory located in Breda, which was seriously impressive to see (lots of robots working there) -and it was very inspiring! Engeneering is cool!

Robin

and you're quite welcome

Anthony Docimo

air's a good idea - i thought maybe it was armor. (maybe both, that far in future)

Anthony Docimo

Thank you so much again Anthony! Drawing that jacket in all those poses was quite a struggle I must admit, haha. But I'm also happy with how it turned out. I sort of imagined it would be filled with air before she opens it- as it is also a space suit- that gave me the oppertunity to shapeshift it a bit too. -Well, I'm glad you like it all so much- that means a lot :)

Robin

Thank you so much Rik! Plorks ship was at first just a classic flying suacer-type ship, but it felt a bit too boring. And only much later I imagined the tentacles/insect type look... so I'm glad you like it!

Robin

Very nice! You started out an artist, and ended up a mechanical engineer! I'll bet you never saw that coming, Robin! Hee hee. Seriously though, lovely work all around. Thank you!

Dacer

thats a very impressive jacket - now I at last know the opposite of "form-fitting" isn't "loose and baggy" :D seriously, great work! particularly on the bike, both ships, and Plork and the Biker!

Anthony Docimo

Seriously super artwork. Really love all this stuff, and especially like the tentacles coming off Plork’s ship.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it Avman72! Do you have a favorite chapter as well? :)

Robin

I really like this game

Avman72

Oh, thanks C- That's really nice of you to say :) I'm glad you still like it all after all this time. And also, thank you once more for all your support, it's really appriciated!

Robin

I'm always so impressed by your work.
