Art: Alien ship Observatory sketch

(Spoiler Alert! Doctors story)

Hey everyone!

So a while back I sketched  this room for the Plorks ship.  It's an observatory, and as you can see Plork has been keeing an eye on Keen ship :)

Now the telescope really tells a story here, and so I wanted to give it a prominent place in the room.  But just  hanging from the ceiling  didn't feel quite right.  And placing it on the ground just felt a bit too...'human'? And so for a while I tried to figure out what to do here.

So I made a few rough sketches and eventually found the solution by adding the circular walkway to the image. I suppose it workes because every walkway/staircase automatically makes the thing at the end of it important... right? :) So that's where I added the telescope. And on top of that, the walkway also gave some more direction to the composition and left me with a nice  spot to add some alien- computers :)

Now these alien-computers tell another part of the story, and if you click on them Keen will end up here.

You might remember that I made a red version of this image before, just as a first test for the alien architecture. But I decided I could reuse it for the story, and so here it is again :)

As you can see, this is also where the Doctors computers ended up...and Keen will soon figure out why.  But... that's all I'll say about the observatory!  Next time I will show you another room of this ship, and reveal a bit more of the Doctors story again.

I hope you like it so far :)

Have a great weekend & all the best!

-Robin

Hey Ryan! Thanks for the support :) And I do a game update every 3 months (give or take a few days) counting from the date of the last release. So the next update will be in about 2 months from now ;) All the best! Robin

I'm a new subscriber, so I was wondering how often does the game get updated/patched?

Hey Dacer, That's well spotted! I indeed tried to stick with the blue/purple colors to make the enviorment feel more alien. But I think I will add a few more color variations to the details of the rooms. I still have to place a few items here and there ;)

Interesting how the color palette used for the alien ship is very different from that of Keen's home ship, reinforcing the feeling that the alien ship is a "strange place". The colors on Keen's ship are typically very warm and/or bright, but the alien interiors tend toward cool and/or dark. A very clever bit of "color psychology" in play there, Robin! Thank you! :-)
