Location: Alien ship, main hall

Hey everyone :)

For some time I have been working on an entirely new location, which is a room that consists of 3 screens. And as a sort of experiment I tried to draw all 3 screens on the same canvas (so that everything in the room correctly connects to each other).

It was a bit of a puzzle, but here is the result!


Now what you see here, is an alien ship :)

And to make that clear, I of course had to  come up with some type of alien architecture.  So I tried to avoid  making small square rooms and  I started experimenting with more organic wall-shapes.  And soon I landed on the idea to make a  'metal cave structure'. Of course this structure also fits the owner of this ship... but more about that later!

Here you see a couple of variations I tried.

Now I was actually quite happy with the first few sketches I made. But it turned out, those designs only worked from a distance. And when I zoomed in, the compositions of the individual screens suddenly looked either too weird, or boring. So I had to take that into account as well, and that's why I kept changing things like the wall-shape on the left.

Now I believe the changes  were a step in the right direction; but when I look at an individual screen, I feel there is still something missing...

But perhaps a bit of depth-fog, or some furniture might already remedy this? Well, let me know if you have suggestions :)

And here you can see once more, how I went from the sketch to the final illustration.

Haha! We are cleary thinking alike ;) I actually have plans worked out for a storyline including such an alien -and that idea is based on translucent jellyfish, the ones you find at great depths in the dark. Althoughthat alien won't appear in this story, but in another. I'll check out your reference as well, thank for sharing!

Haha, thanks 01Lcat ! Those are all great suggestions, I'll see if I can implement some of them ;) Oh- and in the meantime I looked for some fitting music for the area, that should help as well to make it a bit more alien.

Not sure how sexy space slugs would be, but Robin could find a way. Personally I think it would be great if they were translucent gelatinous amoeboid creatures that take a shape based on the lifeform they're communicating with. Kinda like the googirl from Aurelia. I posted a pic of what I'm talking about in the Discord fanart channel.

For furniture, I guess that the function of the room determines that. If it is the bridge acceleration couches are a must. Engineering should be a bit more cluttered with work benches, supply bins, readouts, etc. Maybe they don't need furniture. (Starfaring Space Slugs?) Red, yellow, and green are human colors for danger, caution, and safe. What colors or sounds do the aliens use in their ship?

Remember your training now, Keen. If you find a soft, squishy orifice in an unidentified console on an alien ship, be sure to stick your cock in first to make sure it's safe before risking anything important like a hand or foot.

How about a vaccsuit locker with a clear door so you can highlight the differences of the aliens from humans. Alien Script listing locations and various features that you could use later in a puzzle game or to embarrass Keen. I'm curious, are the aliens known to Keen and crew? Are they humanoid or something different? I wonder, is Keen the only visitor or is he with the Doctor and or her sister in helping out the ship?

That sounds really good! Vapors will quickly make things mysterious; so I'll be sure to add that :) And the alien will indeed be...differnt ;)

Maybe some furniture and or doorways that are alien.

Some vapors might add the needed contrast while keeping your rework time down. And maybe the initial alien encounter would then be shrouded in some of that mist as well? I’m excited to see the alien design! Maybe this one will be a little less humanoid? Have tentacles, or a tail, or have more dramatic proportions? It’s always fun to receive these updates!
