Location: Medbay office & Interview

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all doing well!

This time I wanted to share the creation process of another Medbay location with you, which is the Doctors office.

And so here it is :)


Blurred version

This is of course the 'blurred' version, which is a variant I always make for the dialog scenes.

1. It's actually a flattened version of the origional, which I then adjust by using two Photoshop filters. First I apply the Paint Daubs-filter, to make the black lines thinner, and then I use the Gaussian Blur filter to apply the blur effect.
2. And once I have that version, I usually erase some foreground-parts again, in order to create some depth in the scene.
3. And finally I apply a very transparent white gradient effect on the top half of  the scene, to indirectly create more focus on the characters faces.  


Parts

Now  below you can see the 'normal' version in the gif, which is always used when Keen explores a room. This image consists out of quite a few parts, which I separated  because I either need to animate them, or because it are items that Keen can pick up.

I especially look forward to animating that machine with the tube in it... it will be shaking a lot :) 



From sketch to final illustration


And then there is the actual creation process ;) So here you can see again how I went from a sketch to the final illustration. In this case I was really happy with my sketch, and the the colors I choose seemed to work on an abstract level. But when I started to refine the illustration, I  felt that the whole atmosphere of the room was a bit too greyish and depressing.

So I changed the color scheme and went for more saturated colors and decided to go for a much brighter atmosphere. Well, I hope you like the result!



Interview


Well, then there is another thing I wanted to share with you. About a year ago I did an interview about Space Rescue with Shades, from Shady Corner.  And as of this morning, the interview has - finally- made it to the internet.

So if you like to hear me talk about the game, then this is your chance. But just to give you a bit of context, I did this interview over discord, using my 5-euro-micophone... so the quality might not be the best -ahem, you have been warned ;)

Next

Well, in the next few weeks I will probably be spending most of my time in code again, where I will be putting together the stories that I have prepared so far.  And I hope to be able to do another update around the end of this this month/start of February, so keep an eye out for that!

Yay! My pot plant suggestion actually made it into the office. It brings a nice differing splash of colour to the scene too. :)

We've really been enjoying the game so far, and always excited to see what new updates you come up with. Space Rescue has become one of our favorite NSFW to date - keep up the great work!

There's no doubt you have some of the best art in any nsfw game out there right now. You mention in the interview that you made comics - is there any place to find them today?
