Location: Medbay examination room & Crew Area

Hello again!

Here is another art update ;)

Now this week I've been detailing the various  Medbay locations. And the first one I finished was the examination room.  So here is the result!

I really tried to make it cozy here, so amongst other things, I dimed the lights and added a curtain. Do think it worked? :)

And here is a gif of the drawing process again, so you can see step by step how I made this illustration.

Next time I'll show you the other Medbay rooms I made, because those are only done for about 50% now.

Crew Lounge

But in the meantime I've also been detailing the Crew Lounge some more.  The last time you provided me with some great suggestions, so I tried to incorporate those in the background :)

I also wanted to create a room that could tell the history of the ship some more. So I imagined that the crew would recieve 'thank you cards' from the people the they rescued. And this is where they hung them. So by clicking on the cards you can now learn a bit more about the crews past adventures ;)

Well, this is how the room turned out!

And if you would walk over to the other side of the Crew Area, you will find similair room. But this one has an amateur telescope installed, which the crew can use to enjoy the ...view.

And finally to connect everything together, I've also made a rouch sketch of the room in the middle of the Crew Area. The door-opening you see in the room, is a staircase-tunnel that leads to the Guest Lounge.  I'm not sure if I can add this room in the next update already, but I will certainly try! Because then all Hallways will be connected as planned, which is kinda nice I think ;)

Well, that's it for this update, I'd love to hear what you think of it all.

And I hope you will have a great weekend!

All the best,

Robin

Thank you Graeme! It's also very enjoyable to add those last details I must say :) And I wish you the same! All the best, Robin

Thank you again Dacer! I strongly believe that you can tell half the story, by providing the right backgrounds for a scene. So I'll always do my best to add as much detail as I can- I mean , as far as it makes sense. For example, the Spa entree is rather empty & clean. But still, the art that is there actually reflects a parts of Lorza her cultural background & her view on life (even though that's not mentioned anywhere). But perhaps in those science fiction shows you mention, the backgrounds were made on their own, and not in relation to the characters? That's often a problem. But there are also some very good examples; I love what they did in Back to the Future, Firefly & Total Recall (the classic movie- the new one actually fails here). And Gremlins -a totally different movie - also has a wonderful set design that is really part of the story. All the best! Robin

Looks brilliant as always Robin. As 'Dacer' noted, the little touches you add to give the ship that "Lived in" feel are just wonderful. Thank you and have a great holiday season.

These location designs look awesome, Robin, as usual. I continue to love how you add in personal details to ship areas -- photographs, mementos, other signs of "human habitation" -- something many science-fiction films and TV shows neglect. These other projects are so busy showing off the "high-tech future" scenery, they often forget to show any signs that characters actually live there, and use all this stuff. You never forget to reflect that characters use the setting, and I appreciate that attention to detail. Be well!
