Added 2025-09-12 14:47:12 +0000 UTCHey — been another week here in the US and I got distracted from shows last few days. Started AEMA— Megan has watched and really enjoyed it. Amy is starting as well. We will be doing a pod on it soon. Also Love, Untangled is our snack focus dropping this month…wanted to give another reminder in case you wanted to check it out first. Hope you are all keeping healthy and well and let’s keep recommending stuff to fill our buckets.

2025-09-14 20:08:13 +0000 UTCHi, everybody! Chiming in way late and jetlagged now that I’m home from a mostly drama- and Drama-free week on a comped (!) Alaskan cruise. I got to tag along as the +1 of my lifelong BFF, a wildlife doc filmmaker who is moonlighting as a Princess Cruise Lines “naturalist”; this go-round, she left her husband at home and the extra spot in the tiny crew cabin in the bowels of the ship went to me. How lucky am I?? We saw all the nature (glaciers! seas the color of dark jade and dotted with ice chunks! otherworldly forests!) and so many wild critters: humpbacks, orcas, seals, otters, bears, copious salmon, and bald eagles perched on trash dumpsters…quite the visual metaphor for the ol’ USA. The trip wrapped in Vancouver, BC … and yes, I was wistful. Wistful. Hold the line, dear Canada. Will be carrying on with Queen Seondeok (a Sageuk Summer lasts as long as we say it lasts, which is 10 more eps), resuming 30 but 17, and starting Tempest, VPNed Disney+ permitting. The raves are super exciting. Wishing good days to us all for the week ahead. ❤️

2025-09-14 12:22:51 +0000 UTCHappy weekend, all! Trying to squeeze the last bit of juice out of summer here. Out and about in the city with the kids today, then drove up to a coworker's jazz concert this evening. This week was the first proper school and work week post vacation, still feeling a bit discombobulated - and staying up too late watching because I'm not ready to get back to the grind yet. STUDY GROUP (finished) - watched the last episode with my 12yo last night. Satisfying underdogs story, loved Han Ji Eun's tough and determined teacher and the band of misfit students working to protect her and stand up to the big baddies. We're both wanting the second season - what happens to the school? What about the guy my son called Knuckles who was out to avenge his dead mom? Did the study group pass their finals?? I TOLD SUNSET ABOUT YOU (finished) - not sure how to talk about this one, it wasn't what I expected at all and it totally got under my skin. It's one of the reasons I didn't sleep enough this week, even though the first episode didn't really pull me in and there were lots of times I was frustrated with the characters. It's a very new adult story, in a production that's not polished BL at all, it feels more like an indie movie vibe. Young men navigating friendships that might turn into rivalry or enmity or love. So much crying towards the end! Open-mouthed, jagged, full snot sobbing. But no one gets attacked or has an accident or even does anything very terrible, it's all just feelings so big they can't be contained. This is the biggest coming of age internal struggle around a sexual awakening that I've seen. Oh-aew is luminous, who wouldn't fall in love with this boy? So...who's watched the sequel? Should I keep going? PRISONER OF BEAUTY (ep 12/36) - this was the other reason I didn't sleep enough this week. Forgot again (!) that I have no self-control with C-dramas, just have to see what happens next. A true enemies to lovers story, as in there's a blood feud and they're playing war games against each other, even as she's trying to win his trust and they're gradually growing closer. I realized that I tend to crush more on the FL than the ML in C-dramas, something about the combination of acting and how clever and independent they're written. Xiao Qiao is yet another great FL, a canny strategist with a solid moral center and a soft heart. Fortunately for my sleep we've hit the first slow stretch, an annoying cousin side plot plus time spent on wheat harvests and canal building. UNCANNY COUNTER (ep 11/16) - paused this during vacation, picked it up again this week. In a tough stretch because everything has turned against our heroes. The team is broken (just like my work team IRL 😑) and the bad guys are at their strongest. I'm sure there will be a better turn but going slowly for the moment. Looking forward to the new episode of DESIRE tonight and thinking about starting MY YOUTH.
