SEXY TIMES in K-DRAMA for tonight's Uncensored!

Hey, everyone! We're trying to change up our Uncensored pods to have more of a central focus. Tonight we want to talk about sex in K-Dramas, and we'd love to add your input! You can answer any/all of the below questions or just add a random thought you might have about the topic!

1. What are your general thoughts about sex in dramas? This can cover talking about sex overtly, sex on screen (and we know that on-screen usually means some sexy kissing, fade to black, and then wake up together), or never mentioning sex at all. Just tell us your thoughts!

2. Can dramas be sexy without ever mentioning sex?

3. What's your favorite drama that does its version of on screen sex well?

4. What drama should have had sexy times but didn't?

5. What drama had sexy times but did NOT do it well?

6. How can a drama be sexy with no sex?

7. What did we forget to mention about sex in dramas?

SEXY TIMES in K-DRAMA for tonight's Uncensored!

Comments

Hello - new here. I think someone mentioned Kiss Sixth Sense? That had some of the best kiss and bed scenes and they were central to the plot. The FL can see the future whenever she kisses someone. Minor spoilery ahead: She kdrama accidently kisses her boss and a gets a vision of them in a passionate embrace headed to bed together. At some point she shares some of this information with her boss (can't recall how specific she is with him) and they decide to kiss again to see what she sees. The soundtrack kicks in, it is a great kiss, and a beautiful montage unfolds of their future together. It is a minute of perfection. It is at the end of Episode 6 so you can skip the drama and just watch the one scene - but you may be hooked in after. It is one of my favorite scenes in a kdrama so far.

Fake it till you make it and Here we meet again are two good examples!

1. What are your general thoughts about sex in dramas? If characters are in a mature and healthy relationship then intimacy would seem to be an appropriate way to show progression in a relationship. I didn't mind that CLOY didn't go there (it kind of transcended that kind of skinship) what I don't like is dramas that hint or build up to it and then all you get are "plank" hugs (where the huggee just stands there like a plank) or chaste, embarrassed pecks. I'm looking at you, Good Day to be a Dog. You can't show kissing with TONGUES in a cupboard and then end it series with plank hugs and pecks. No. I actually think C-dramas convey physical intimacy far better than k-dramas (in general) 2. Can dramas be sexy without ever mentioning sex? C-drama Fake it til you make it was SO sexy and there was no explicit mention of sex. A lot of flirting, furtive glances and day dreaming about each other. The male lead turns out to be the greenest of green flags, has no issues with intimacy or commitment, is loyal, and they communicate through misunderstandings. That is sexy. 3. What's your favorite drama that does its version of on screen sex well? C-drama Here we meet again - oh my goodness Zhang Bin Bin... sets a date in his calendar for the big day with his girlfriend. Whatever floats your boat. Kiss Sixth Sense - the FL lead was a played a convincing, mature adult with a libido - hooray! Same with Love to Hate you - Gold stars. Finally, Money Heist Korea - no spoilers but oh my goodness, that breaks all the k-drama rules. That vault scene... 4. What drama should have had sexy times but didn't? Good Day to be Dog.... you teased it but gave us nothing. Nothing. Happiness - yes - they lived together, they were single and gorgeous and loved each other. Why. Not? 5. What drama had sexy times but did NOT do it well? Any drama where intimacy is clinical or everyone is just SO fully clothed. 6. How can a drama be sexy with no sex? Oh definitely - glances, longing looks, hand brushes. There are many ways. 7. What did we forget to mention about sex in dramas? I just want to know why there's such a disparity between most k-dramas (fully clothed, suggested intimacy) and dramas/films like Parasite and Money Heist. Is it because of broadcasting censorship?
