Gyeongseong Creature Spoiler Thread

I just finished part one and these are my initial thoughts. Not too spoilery, but a little:

It's not a saga like Mr. Sunshine, but I'm getting Mr. Sunshine vibes with the scrappy rebels. But GC is MUCH more fast-paced. I was riveted and on the edge of my seat and like... never bored.

Park Seo Joon is KILLING it as Jang Tae Sang. He reminds me a bit of Indiana Jones in that he's always injured, still has a sense of humor, and often wins on accident. Still, he's crafty and smart, and so damn likeable.

Han So Hee is so good at playing these emotionally closed off women who, once they like you, are loyal til death. She's badass.

Edited to Add: It's VERY violent. I can't believe I forgot to say that originally, so if that's not for you and you're reading this post, here is your heads up! There's human on human violence, torture, and monster violence. It's a lot!

Overall I find the themes to be similar to things I've watched before, but this is obviously a different take and damn good storytelling, which makes it all really fun to watch.

I was along for the fun monster ride but then this drama hit me emotionally with character back stories and now I'm hooked. I'm super impressed with the plotting and pacing. I'm eagerly awaiting Part two. If they eff this up in the end, I'm be devastated!

What are your thoughts???

So the underwater scene seems like the only way to save Chae Ok was for her to take the Najin which healed her. But there was no followup after that scene so who knows what happened. The very end scene has me wondering if he is actually Tae Sang or a descendant. The scar on his neck. Maybe he has a Najin too? And Lady Maeda. I'm assuming she also took a Najin also looking at the cup of water. Also what was the connection between Lady Maeda and Chae Ok's Mother? Many questions.

Can we revive this thread for post-part-2 reactions? What did people think?! What was that last teaser scene??? The underwater scene?? So many questions. The message delivery and mourning wreaths scene made me punch the air. So wicked.

We’ve only watched the first episode so far, but I like it. There aren’t many dramas set in this time period. For some reason I had forgotten about Unit 731 until I searched for Japanese experiments last night. I remember the episode of Tomorrow about the comfort women but my husband said Unit 731 was mentioned in it too? But there weren’t any survivors - just like in the show, they shot all the prisoners when they shut it down at the end of the war. Will look it up.
