I just finished part one and these are my initial thoughts. Not too spoilery, but a little:
It's not a saga like Mr. Sunshine, but I'm getting Mr. Sunshine vibes with the scrappy rebels. But GC is MUCH more fast-paced. I was riveted and on the edge of my seat and like... never bored.
Park Seo Joon is KILLING it as Jang Tae Sang. He reminds me a bit of Indiana Jones in that he's always injured, still has a sense of humor, and often wins on accident. Still, he's crafty and smart, and so damn likeable.
Han So Hee is so good at playing these emotionally closed off women who, once they like you, are loyal til death. She's badass.
Edited to Add: It's VERY violent. I can't believe I forgot to say that originally, so if that's not for you and you're reading this post, here is your heads up! There's human on human violence, torture, and monster violence. It's a lot!
Overall I find the themes to be similar to things I've watched before, but this is obviously a different take and damn good storytelling, which makes it all really fun to watch.
I was along for the fun monster ride but then this drama hit me emotionally with character back stories and now I'm hooked. I'm super impressed with the plotting and pacing. I'm eagerly awaiting Part two. If they eff this up in the end, I'm be devastated!
What are your thoughts???
