A Healing Drama?
Added 2023-05-11 15:08:23 +0000 UTCWhat’s a K-drama that has felt particularly healing for you? Something in the story patched together a little tear in your heart or gave you new perspective or had a message you needed to hear?
For me…Our Blues. So many of the vignettes had a message or theme that so personally resonated with me. I was honestly a dehydrated little raisin by the end of this drama due to all my sobbing. But it felt cathartic and helped me work a few things out or examine some feelings I had been not sure how to process.

For me, Her Private Life. Spoilers beyond this point. One of my kids was adopted as a teen from another country. He’s a young adult now & has been in our family for 7 years. Watching Ryan Gold’s character, an adult grappling with emotions related to childhood abandonment, had me in puddles of tears for days thinking about everything my son dealt with (particularly those childhood years before we met him). This storyline broke my heart. It was a reminder that no matter how pulled-together things appear, people are often dealing with complicated issues we know nothing about. And we should be sensitive to that & give people grace.

(I'm a cathartic cryer too) It's generally the respect, nurture and kindnesses (healing) between characters which get me, rather than the romance or the big set pieces. Mine are It's Okay to Not Be Okay, My Mister, Move to Heaven, Hospital Playlist, Our Blues, Rain or Shine, Navillera and I know there's more.
