Love is For Suckers: Who's watching?
Added 2022-10-24 12:00:10 +0000 UTCHi all! Amy here. I dove in on Love is For Suckers as soon as I heard it was getting some buzz, and I am really enjoying so far, especially now that we are at the actual Kingdom of Love S2 part. Things I like so far:
1. MCs in their mid thirties! I'm not a dirty ahjumma!
2. Friends to lovers trope
3. Good exposition (even though it took about four episodes) to show why MCs are/are not in a good emotional place for a relationship
4. Funny BFFs who own a restaurant and actually have customers every now and then
5. Compelling second leads who will definitely give our MCs some obstacles to falling in love.
If you're watching, what are your initial thoughts?

2022-10-25 20:18:07 +0000 UTCI’m enjoying the blending of UnReal with Singles Inferno, but I’m hoping we won’t have 10 episodes of that. The writers planted seeds for several backstories that I’m hoping we’ll return to.

2022-10-24 17:30:27 +0000 UTCI really loved the opening scene where she supported him - with her vibrant personality but knowing exactly how to slowly push him and then the contrast where he was there for her at her dark moment not needing to say anything - just being there in his way. I thought it spoke to deep friendship in a beautiful way. Those scenes really lingered with me. And agree makes me really want to root for them

The way their friendship shifts and changes over many years with both friends sharing the burden of doing more for the other one touched me. It made me root for this couple even more because they had already supported each other through so much.

I actually appreciated that the show waiting until “act 2” to bring in the dating show- I’ve noticed that shows often stall is when the plot rushes into the hook. Waiting built the foundation of their chemistry and friendship, and a lot has already happened (like almost getting married!), so I go into every episode expected something to move the plot forward.

2022-10-24 14:13:02 +0000 UTCYes! to all of your comments. Also, for me, it’s great to see Lee Da Hee and Choi Si Won as the mains in this drama. They deserve it, and their chemistry is wonderful. I have previously enjoyed them as strong support characters in other dramas ( he in She Was Pretty and she in Search: WWW), but I hadn’t seen them as leads (according to MDL, they both have had lead roles, I just hadn’t seen them). I do welcome a drama with a storyline about adults.
