Help a Patreon Out: Sarah is Going to Seoul

Friend of the pod, Patreon and oocassional guest host, Sarah, is off to Seoul soon! She put out a request for tips and advice:

Please help! I am SO EXCITED that I'll be going to Korea for the first time ever for a work visit and am tagging on an extra 3 days afterwards for MY-TIME.

For those of you who have been before, what do I do? What are must do's? Do you have friends who would be willing to take me to a Pochungmacha tent (I'm serious, I'm alone those 3 days!)

So excited for you and can't wait to hear about your adventure. And the food. I want to hear about the food.

You are living the dream, Sarah! Tell us all about your trip when you get back!

Yay, Sarah! I'm excited for you!

How exciting!! I’d definitely recommend visiting the Bukchon Hanok village area. Lots of traditional stalls, cafes and delicious food, and right next to a lot of the palaces. Gwangjang Market is also close by - had the best hotteok there!😍 Walking/cycling along the Hangang River is a must too, there is a cycle rental place and nice route from Yeouido Park. Hope you have an amazing time!!

Sarah, There is a woman I have followed for a few years on social media. She taught English in Korea and has a lot of YouTube videos about visiting, living there. She’s very receptive to messaging on Instagram. She lives in London right now but she’s from the US. Her name is Isis Williams, @sisilessthan3. Have a great time!

Oh awesome thank you so much! I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to fit in but this is useful to know which areas to go for ❤️ I’m stating in Myeongdong

Sarah @afternoonaasks

Definitely visit Hongdae (for shopping, food and people watching), Myeong-dong (to just let yourself get carried away by the people, lights, food, and yes more shopping), Hapjeong (for coffee and Seoul's hipsters, bars and food), Mangwon Market (snacks, produce, and more snacks), Seongsu-dong (never been but it's being hyped up as Seoul's 'Brooklyn'), Daehangno (loads of little galleries, small theatres are located there and it's got a very lovely, bustling vibe), there's loads more and I'm conscious I didn't list that many foodie places, but you can easily do what I do which is to follow the smells...?
