GIVE THESE ACTORS A ROMANTIC LEADING ROLE!
Added 2022-10-04 13:56:56 +0000 UTCGood morning all. Amy here with a call to action. Can we all just put a little PSA (public service announcement) together for who we NEED to see as a romantic lead? I have adored Park Jin-joo in EVERYTHING I've seen her in: If You Wish Upon Me, Our Beloved Summer, It's Okay To Not Be Okay, Her Private Life. And I KNOW I'll adore her in everything else she's in. But for the love of soju, can we please just make this woman a romcom lead? We NEEEEED it.
Lee Soo-hyuk...Other than the one episode of Doom At Your Service I watched (for a pod episode where we either loved it or left it...I left it for later), I was not aware of Lee Soo-hyuk's magnetic presence...until I watched Tomorrow. His back story (no spoilers) and his Neo-from-the-Matrix coolness was everything, and I would have watched a full drama just on his story. Now, I'm not asking for a romcom for him. He needs to be a tragic romantic lead (who gets a well deserved HEA). On Instagram, Sarah (@kdramathis) mentioned a tragic vampire romance, which made me want to cast him in my vampire K-drama idea, and I still do, BUT...The Scholar Who Walks the Night, a vampire drama with Lee Joon-gi I've been meaning to watch, has Lee Soo-hyuk as the vampire baddie! So...we're halfway there, but if he's the antagonist, I don't see things ending well for him. He did win a Best New Actor in the MBC Drama Awards in 2015 for this role!
Anyway, I digress. K-drama universe, I want Park Jin-joo to get a romcom lead and Lee Soo-hyuk to get a tragic (with an HEA) romance lead. Can we make this happen?

I haven't seen Shooting Stars yet, but now I'm intrigued. And LOL yes a bass player probably has very capable hands.

I want her to be the central character of anything - a comedy, a melodrama, a slice of life, a RomCom she can slay it all!! But YES TO 40+ REPRESENTATION ๐๐๐ My favourite role of hers is a quietly devastating cameo in Prison Playbook. She just steals the scene โค๏ธ

2022-10-06 20:37:34 +0000 UTCHot take: I want to see Kim Sun Young in a leading role. (I'm not sure whether she has already had one, but I assume not.) She's been fantastic in everything I have ever seen her in, but she's usually ensemble. The woman can transform: I mean, look at her character in Reply 1988. Then go to her role in Her Private Life. Then go to her role in the disaster that was The Silent Sea. Then go even further and look at her role in CLOY. The woman has chops! I would like to see her as a romantic lead in a rom-com with more mature (I'm talking 40+--REPRESENT FOR US IN OUR 40s!) lovers as leads, not as supporting.

Jung Yoo Jin (aka Eugene) as Song Hae Rin, the book editor and Wi Ha Joon as Ji Seo Joon, the book cover illustrator โ oh, and his dog too! I wasnโt terribly invested in the main leads in this drama (there wasn't much heat between them) but the second leads had so much potential.

2022-10-04 17:44:41 +0000 UTCThis is partially because I just finished Alchemy of Souls so it's hot on my brain....I would love for Hwang Min-Hyun to be in a lead role. Definitely a swoonworthy guy.... he was great as the 2ML in Alchemy.

2022-10-04 17:39:25 +0000 UTCI would love to see Wi Ha Joon as a proper romantic lead. Iโm loving him in Little Women, he was one of my favorite parts of Squid Games and totally stole in the show in Bad and Crazy. I could definitely see him a Healeer type role.
