Weekend Round Up
Added 2022-09-10 04:19:04 +0000 UTCWhat a week. How are you relaxing? Megan said she is hearing great things about Little Women? Anyone else into it? I’m starting Cafe Minamdang and trying really hard to wait to watch BTS Permission to Dance (Disney Plus) with a friend next week. Let’s here what you all into!

If You Wish Upon Me is the one I have been waiting for, and I haven't gotten much past that. I've been wanting to watch a couple of shows that don't qualify as upcoming that would require me to spend more money, It's Beautiful Now and Work Later, Drink Now. But since I am already paying for Viki and Netflix, and college-age kids are spending all my money, I can't afford it.

2022-09-15 23:45:07 +0000 UTCSometimes predictable is exactly what a person needs! Both Cafe Minamdang and Now It’s Showtime! were two of my 2022 fave shows precisely because they were the visual equivalent of really good comfort food. Pretty actors, decent plots that finished without falling apart, okay chemistry (debatable for Cafe M’s main couple, but I didn’t have a problem with the FL like a lot of the internet did; just think SIG’s fans are FERVENT), good SMLs with their own arcs, fun premises…could be a lot worse. 🤷♀️ And Cafe M looked great and used color really well. So I say EMBRACE THE FAMILIAR.

2022-09-11 23:08:17 +0000 UTCI've only seen episode trailers but this show looks really appealing. Just still not enough to get me on Viki

2022-09-11 19:32:37 +0000 UTCI'm late to the game but all in for law cafe, and I'm trying out If You Wish Upon Me. It's a little sad for my headspace. Have seen some complaints that Law Cafe seems like it will be predictable. Perhaps, but I like that the leads begin with a history and we are finally able to skip the getting to know each other phase that takes the first ten episodes. They have pretty good chemistry too. So, I can see how it might not be a huge surprise or genre bending, but I'm in a super busy time with work and I need some very straightforward escapism so it is working for me.

2022-09-11 15:13:22 +0000 UTCThus is counter intuitive, but after binging the final episodes (for now) of Alchemy of Souls last week, my goal is not to watch kdramas this weekend...and possibly all week. I am back to having coursework and I need to remind myself to focus on that, as the kdramas will wait for me. Here's to hoping I manage!

2022-09-11 14:30:16 +0000 UTCI’m binging Cafe Minamdang and think Seo In Guk is doing a fabulous job with this character. Put If You Wish Upon Me on hold so I can binge it when all episodes are out. Had a great day at work chatting about K dramas with 2 patients ( it’s a rare occurrence ). I love finding this out and allowing the space to share. It is quite a joyful and relaxing experience for patients waiting to go in to surgery.

2022-09-11 01:20:11 +0000 UTCOh man, you’re tempting me to give it a go and I keep thinking I need to try another CDrama having found my first, the universally popular You Are My Glory very dull.

2022-09-10 21:18:14 +0000 UTCPart of me has a love of cracktastic Asian fantasy shows/films. This stems from childhood, when my family and I lived and traveled in SE Asia. It’s a very specific love, and when I see it done well - like parts of Goblin - I become a 7-yo kid again. Usually it isn’t done well, however - Lovers of the Red Sky and Alchemy of Souls being recent disappointments - but when it is it owns my heart. Imagine my joy when I discovered Netflix now has Love Between Fairy and Devil, and it’s everything I hoped it would be. I started today, and can tell I’ve begun a BINGE. By the end of E2 there’s been kissing, body swapping, more kissing, a DRAGON, a jailbreak…if we get wizard monks later my life will be complete. I know that as a cdrama it’s a bit outside what you gals normally do, but it’s also blown up on the internet and now on Netflix (previously only on iQIYI), and I’d love for you to podcast on it. Think a lot of other listeners would enjoy it as well!

2022-09-10 18:40:04 +0000 UTCGlad to see I'm not the only one juggling a few dramas at the same time. I finished www secretary Kim yesterday (loved it!). I'm still watching Tomorrow and enjoying it. I'm trying to decide whether I should start Goblin or Healer. Any thoughts? In terms of non k dramas (gasp), my little one is obsessed with star wars and I know nothing about it. His 6th birthday is on Monday so we might watch the movie or a few episodes of the Mandalorian to help him celebrate. I also started rewatching season 1 of The Crown, in keeping with the mood in the UK right now.

2022-09-10 18:32:44 +0000 UTCI’m watching several of the currently airing dramas—If You Wish Upon Me, Good Job, Today’s Webtoon, The Law Cafe, plus a couple of Cdramas (See You Again and Let’s Meet Now). Whew. Once Upon a Small Town is waiting in the wings for me to start soon. I won’t watch Little Women as I am not a fan of Kim Go Eun. I watched Alienoid this week (in a movie theater, gasp, for only the 2nd time since Covid). Okay, so I went to it to see Kim Woo Bin, and he didn’t disappoint. But there are lots of other familiar faces, too. Kim Tae Ri as a totally bad ass shooter! Sci fi is not my thing, but who cares. And it’s pointless to try to make much sense of the plot, just enjoy the visuals, which go back and forth from Goryeo to modern times. It’s crazy fun. And loud.
