Patreon Podcast Participation Ponder

It’s Monday so I decided why not have some fun with alliteration.

This Wednesday we are doing a podcast that will have a focus in part on host tastes. We have had a few requests to do something like this…I think because ppl want to know whose opinions or hot takes they might align with best.

So I thought we could do an AMA (ask me anything) where ya’ll can put any questions in comments and we will answer them on the pod. These can be kdrama related or more general. Specific to one host or for everyone.

Over and out!

This is something I think about all the time – and I’m not a writer: What’s your elevator pitch for a kdrama that you want to write – and who do you want to see cast to play the characters you’ve created?

Kathi

🧐 Here are a few more! How do you feel about kdramas becoming more internationally known/moving away and into genres other than romance? What makes a good kdrama romance? When approaching kdramas, do you find yourself more character driven or plot driven? What makes an appealing ML/FL? Do you wish kdramas were sexier/more explicit?

Madge Doty

Do you think you would have fallen for kdramas in the way you have if you'd been introduced to them at a different time?(pre-pandemic, different time of your life, however you'd read that)

Hannah

What dramas/actors are so well known you feel like you have to see them, but you haven't yet/ don't want to for some reason.

Lauren Cohen

Building on Hannah's question, how has immersion in K-romance as a viewer/consumer affected your own writing?

Antonina (Tonya)

Which dramas are on each of your top five lists? What are some dramas you all disagreed about? Or completely agreed on?

Lorna

What's the one drama absolutely everyone else seemed to love but was not your own cuppa tea? Which KDrama heroine do you most identify with?

Sarah @afternoonaasks

Would you consider rating the dramas as in top 20 for the year? You all consume so much more than I. it could be done individually or collectively.

tku

Always curious about what you're currently reading or writing and how it does/not impact your watching. Ie, have you stolen any storylines yet? A plot device? Or like Amy watching movies, does it just mean that you see several steps ahead? I think one reason I fell into kdramas is that the tropes are unfamiliar - and then stayed because they're hilarious.

Hannah

This is too many questions! But these are what came to mind. Pick and choose or don’t! Based on how much you all both consume and create romance stories, do you ever struggle with expectations and separating fantasy from reality? Other than obviously bringing joy to your lives, how do you think kdramas affect your view of real, messy humans? Are there drama styles you avoid because they affect you too much? Other styles you seek out because they bring out something specific in you? Specifically curious about how this might affect Amy as she approaches dating -- how do you not insist on a spectacular meet cute, etc.???
