Seals have been hunted for meat, skin and oil (fat).
During seal hunting in the past, people used a special tool called hakapik. It's like a hammer/pickaxe, where the hammer part was used to pet the seal on the head and the hook to move it around.
I haven't tried a seal yet. I think I would feel a bit bad <._.> But I wonder if it's tasty.
