1.7-Preview1

It is finally time to move on to 1.7. As before, the public version of 1.6 will be released to Overtake shortly.

With the core FFB now mostly sorted out, the focus for 1.7 will be to provide additional options shape the FFB to your preference and to improve compatibility with lower powered wheelbases.

To start things off, here is what is new for 1.7-Preview1:

Core Force Feedback

• Added: Minimum FFB setting
  (Primarily intended for gear-driven or belt-driven wheelbases to enhance small details and on-center feel. A small amount, around 1%, can also be used to tighten on-center feel for direct drive wheelbases. Warning: Too high a value will create a notch on center or constant shaking of the wheel. Start low and increase gradually.)
  

• Added: FFB linearity setting
  (Adjusts force sensitivity curve. Positive values amplify subtle forces, negative values reduce them. 0% = linear response.)

Haptics

• Added: Engine Vibration
  (Frequency scales with engine RPM. Intensity scales with engine RPM and gas application. Intensity is amplified when stationary.)
  
  

In addition to the above, the below changes made to the Settings & UI have made their way to the final 1.6 release and so also apply to 1.7.

Settings & UI

For clarity, some settings have been renamed and have had a mouse-over description added to explain what the setting does at a high level. In addition, a new “Filters” section has been added to separate the damping sliders from the main force feedback settings.

• Spring force renamed to Self-aligning torque

• Side force renamed to Lateral force

• Front force renamed to Longitudinal force

• Filters section added for Damping settings

• Mouse-over description added to all Main and Filters settings.

• Setting sliders dependent on another slider or checkbox to function will now be greyed out to visually reflect their disabled state
