Japan Trip Summer Update (2024)

Hello! It’s been a little bit since I’ve posted so I wanted to compile what I experienced here on my vacation so far.

-About 6 days in Tokyo Tokyo

The night I arrived and met with my friend was pretty normal, just a very rainy night. The typhoon was just passing by Tokyo. In the morning we went out to walk despite the heavy rain and wind, I actually ended up slipping in the rain after stepping on a wet metal slope and fell to the concrete my elbow. I probably gave the lady walking behind me a spook because she panicked asking if I was daijobou. I thought I was okay until a few minutes later when It started bleeding a lot with a few gashes, so my friend and I ended up going to a nearby clinic and I got to experience healthcare in Japan. I had to sign up for a temporary medical card because I didn’t have any insurance here. It was a bit of waiting and some very helpful people despite the big language barrier. I got to see the doctor and had it bandages up, I think it costed around 28ish dollars total for the visit. The people ended up being pretty helpful despite a few misunderstandings and the doctors English was pretty okay. We left the clinic in a positive mood.

It continued raining a lot as we got to Akihabara and we kinda just stuck around there, I mostly wanted my friend to see it now since I’ve already experienced it in Winter. It’s still a lovely hub for otaku. We shopped and played arcade games. Next few days was going to the Tokyo sky tree, Nakano broadway (I love that I actually found a tiny bit of Kara No Shoujo merchandise there) and then Asakusa. So many pretty kimonos in Asakusa, but we did go off the main path and to the Rockza which is where a more artful music & nude show takes place. The dancers were really good, they were doing an around the world theme for the dances starting with an Indian dance and then a Scottish one which was really good, some more after that but totally cool to see. A few old men were having the time of their lives watching and clapping while some younger adults almost looked shy to be there which was funny.

This post is quite long so I’ll have to actually make another post soon for Osaka! I hope you’re all doing well by the way!

It’s been a different experience but also fun, traveling solo and traveling with a friend have their strengths and weaknesses but those lines blur if you just discuss with the friend when you’d like to do something solo or say something if an issue props up. It’s been nice meeting my online friend for the first time irl and in such a nice country. As the trip comes to its last leg I find myself thinking about my own work and future a lot, and how much there is to do lol. So much to focus on

The Rockza was very fun! You get an eye full of all their bare sections but it doesn’t feel like a smutty place. It was just a nice set of music performances with the stripping as a bonus show at the end of each dance. Would totally like to go back again some day since they switch the dances every two months

Glad you didn't get hurt too bad and you're having a good time! Going solo before must have been nice, but getting to visit with another person is also a worthwhile experience.

It’s great you’re enjoying your second trip. I’m taking notes, because I’m hoping to go back again one day. Some of your recommendations like in Asakusa really sound fun
