This is a meta reference to the fact the Doctor in the classic era was always portrayed as sexless and to the anxiety that many fans felt that he would be overly sexualised in the new series (especially after the minor uproar in fandom at the Doctor kissing his companion in the 1996 TV movie).

2023-07-29 07:43:24 +0000 UTCBack when I 1st watched this 2 parter the Gasmask child terrified me! Used to be the scariest thing in Dr Who for me until a certain episode in a future series. I'm sure many fellow Dr Who fans know just which episode I mean! Can't wait for you to get there!

2023-07-12 15:04:57 +0000 UTCThe other Dr in this was non other than Richard Wilson, a very well known actor in the UK, and star of 'One Foot In The Grave', a long running, equally unusual and very enjoyable comedy series. You have so much you are reacting to, but hope one day you get the chance to see him as Victor Meldrew.

2023-07-11 11:56:01 +0000 UTCWelcome to the wonderful writing world of Steven Moffat. After Russell T Davies departed in 2009-10, he would take over as showrunner and lead writer, but this is his first contribution to the show. As a TV writer and producer he’s perhaps just as well known for being the creator of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock series. If you loved this writing you got a fair bit to look forward to. Especially in the humour department, all the back and forth between companions, the Doctor getting excited and obsessing over various things, making fun of the Doctor’s outfit like Jack calling him “U-boat captain” all trademark Moffat. He also has a knack for using clever means of tension and spooky stuff to creep the audience out, like setting up the typewriter as a creepy moment with the boy typing. Also for taking a scary visual image like people in gas masks in Blitz era London and trying to write a story around it as a starting idea. If you liked all that, you’ve got a lot to look forward to. He’s one of the show’s cleverer writers, although sometimes his perception of cleverness does get a bit carried away. Regardless, great reaction.

2023-07-10 23:22:27 +0000 UTCThe Empty Child has got to be one of the scariest/creepiest episodes. Freaked the hell out of me when it came out. Don't ever worry about not understanding Doctor Who. In the Ecclestone and Tennant series' it was still very family friendly and every plotline gets explained eventually😊
