There's a prequel called Zulu Dawn they made some years after this fulfilling a promise they made to the Zulu King, who played the chief in the dancing scene. It tells the story of the British incursion into Zulu land and the battle that preceded this one. Stars Peter O'Toole and Burt Lancaster.
