Query: More Content

Hey guys, how’s it going?

I know it's weird of me to post something that’s not a chapter. I think I’ve done this like, twice, and it’s weird for me too, I’ll admit.

However, I’ve been thinking about stuff (dangerous, let me tell you) and I have some ideas I wanted to run past you. The core of it all is a desire to write more (it’s actually to get more Validation, because I’m an addict for the stuff) and generally get more of my writing out there for you guys to enjoy. Granted, these are all ideas born of the fact that I’ve been on a fairly good streak writing wise and have been able to get some free time.

First of all, I want to be clear on something though, and that’s the fact that all of this would have a chance of being inconsistent. What I mean by this is that, as I said, this all hinges on me keeping up my writing streak, which is not guaranteed. In the past, I’ve had weeks when I didn't finish my main three stories’ writing until late Saturday. These days I seem to be done between Thursday and Friday and easily, but that might not be the case forever.

So, with that in mind, the first thing I want to check with you guys is if you’d be fine with something inconsistent or if you want me to just stick with what I have. I’d try my best not to let it get in the way, so I think nobody would mind too much having extra stuff even if it’s inconsistent. Still, I don’t want to annoy anyone by promising something I might not be able to do.

Now, onto the actual ideas:

Extra Content:

What I mean by this is writing extra content like what I’ve been dropping once a year or so for Game of Shadows. Bonus stuff and spin-offs from the main story. I did that mostly because I have a soft spot for GoS, truly, and I didn’t want to completely abandon that, but I could get much more content out than what I’ve been doing if you guys are interested.

Custom Extra Content:

The difference between this and the previous entry is that I’d take what you guys want into consideration (within reason, since I like writing my way too much to truly write whatever you guys ask for, sorry). Or, at least, what some of you guys want. I’m thinking about making it a benefit for those crazy people out there that have paid me a whole lot here on Patreon. Specifically Roy, who’s been paying more than most for a long time without actually getting extra benefits for it, but also those people that have stuck with me for a while.

The main idea I have for this is offering people with an Earl subscription and higher the possibility to choose what they want to see in the extra content. Maybe they want to see more of a particular chapter or a particular thing that didn’t get enough screen time. Or maybe they want to see something that was left in the background actually get explained. Or maybe they want some kind of spin-off scene.

I’d also be offering this same benefit for certain thresholds of lifetime support (like, say $1k or maybe $750 or some such goal) that a person reaches. That’s a lot, and very few people have reached that number, but that just makes me want to reward those crazy, beautiful people even more, you know? I’m also thinking about maybe lowering the threshold to $500, but there’s a lot more people in that range. Which I’m not saying makes it less meaningful – not at all –, but it would mean a lot more writing and it’s kind of intimidating. Maybe in the future if I feel like I can manage.

Fourth Story:

Now, this sounds to me like the most scary idea of the three I’m presenting you. Why? Simple, because it feels like the biggest responsibility.

The reason for that is that I feel like people will be less annoyed or disappointed if I fall short on the writing of extra content that isn’t really part of the “official” content I offer. If you’re following a story and you’re told it’ll update on certain days, it’ll inevitably feel bad if that doesn’t happen, right?

I don’t wanna do that to anyone, because I know how it feels as a reader myself.

Now listen here, you greedy people you. I know you’re there. Look, I’d love to. I could even try to get extra content and a fourth story out there. The issue is that it’d make it more likely that I mess up deadlines and such. I already don’t think I could manage a weekly extra chapter of anything, not forever at least. I’d probably slip up some months.

If you don’t mind, then I guess you can pick this.

With all that said, I’m mostly making this post to get your opinions on all this. What do you think of the ideas? Do you like them, do you not? Do you think I should go for it or do you think I should stick to how I’m doing things right now? Do you have any other ideas you think I should consider?
