For MKOFTEN listeners, Thomas analyzes the 2001 Robert Rodriguez film Spy Kids. Although sometimes pleasantly funny and imaginative, a lot of subversive themes lurk beneath the superficially pro-family messaging of the movie, and certain components of the film are straightforwardly creepy. Thomas talks about the uneasy alliance the movie tries to create between espionage culture and familial unity. The deepest psyop within the film has to do with the character of Floop and his grotesque children's television show. With Floop's arc, we see classic Hollywood propaganda about the supposedly redeemable and ultimately innocent nature of art and entertainment that is deeply implicated in MK-culture.
