I hadn't picked up on that but you're totally right, there's more to the republic law Indara was quoting but we were meant to take it at face value with the first part. I wonder how different if at all the wording will be when we are retold that scene from Mae's perspective (which I'm sure will happen!)

Kyle Katarn

Indara gets cut off when she starts talking about the Republic law, so we don’t get to hear the full explanation. The way it’s cut off makes it sound like no one but the Jedi are allowed to teach children in the ways of the force. But I don’t think that’s exactly what the law says, but that’s what they want us to think by cutting Indara off where they did. I suspect the law is really something along the lines of dark side users aren’t allowed to train children. Jedi know how dangerous dark side users can be, so I can see there being restrictions on dark side users training children. But the way it’s framed with cutting Indara off it sounds like only Jedi can train children. Are these witches dark side users? They were exiled…..from where and why? What did they do to be exiled and hiding. They said their ways of using the force are considered dark. They created life using methods that they said the Jedi would not approve, so clearly it was dark side. Taking over Torbin the way they did seems pretty dark side. So I’m convinced the witches are dark side users. Are they really bad dark side users like the Sith? Don’t know yet. But I can see the Jedi being concerned about any dark side users teaching kids. One dark side user coveting power can cause a galaxy’s worth of headaches. I feel like the Jedi are there and concerned for good reason, not just to be aholes that only Jedi can train children. However this whole episode is very intentionally making us like the witches and see them as the good guys, and hate the Jedi and see the order as a whole as the bad guys. There’s more to the story and I’m here to see what it is. The Jedi order has its flaws, but in general they are on the side of good. Not the bad guys this show is so far making them out to be. But clearly something in this situation went horribly wrong with these 4 Jedi involved for Torbin to kill himself. I feel like they were there for the right intentions and aren’t the bad guys but the whole thing blew up in their face badly. We’ll see how it all plays out. I just hope Sol doesn’t turn out to be an intentional bad guy, because I absolutely love him, he’s the only character so far that has really grabbed me.

Wow, this one was great! We're definitely getting Mae's counterpart to this episode later on that will show what the Jedi were really up to there (Torbin is in the back with his face cut up during the scene on the Jedi ship, and no way that book sent the whole place up, so something went down). Since the first to episodes were "Lost / Found" and "Revenge / Justice", I'm betting they're holding back the other 'half' of "Destiny / _____" if it's not the immediate follow-up next week, then I'm guessing that comes around the penultimate episode.

Ahh, see we both missed that

it's a very different approach to a star wars story! Mysteries like this really do withhold the payoffs until the end

idk why i’m not feeling this show! the production value is great though

This was incorrectly labeled, it is a REACTION and NOT a rewatch!! (This is what I get for copy/pasting from the previous video)

“Sharing the balance” is a mouthful there I think. As opposed to a specific one bringing balance to the Force, perhaps they think it’s the responsibility of them all to take the weight of it. And I’m pretty sure they think the Light side and Dark side categories are too simplistic. But that could be how something went wrong. The Sith presence feels like a dictator taking over a communist country. Communism has many merits, but it can end up being vulnerable. And if the Jedi are more similar to democracy, they’re still also vulnerable to greed and capitalist tendencies. Who is “allowed” to wield power?

Kate L.

Agreed. I don’t know what exactly, but I read on another page someone calling shenanigans, and I agree. 👍🏻

I am virtually certain that was NOT Mae that started the fire in that scene. They worked hard in this ep to establish that Mae had a little more of a violent streak even back then, but nothing came close to "I'm going to kill you instead of letting you leave." Also, notice how Sol knew on the ship at the end that "Mae started the fire" even though, in what we saw, no one but Mae and Osha were there? And even more than that, when Osha and Mae were on the bridge, Mae seemed clearly not to know what happened when she asked Osha "What did you do?" I'm like 95% sure the Jedi are on some absolute ish in this.

You see Torbin with his wound in the background when Osha wakes up on the Jedi ship at the end.

Let’s fucking GOOOOOO
