The Rise Of Skywalker AMA
Added 2019-12-21 05:52:23 +0000 UTCI’ve seen the film twice. Because I’m stuck working all weekend, I won’t have a chance to make my review video until probably Sunday at the earliest.
In the meantime, ask me any questions about my film experience here and I will answer them tonight while I’m bored at work.
(Bendu will be joining me later and may answer some questions too.)
I have spoken!

I heard Hayden and Matt Lanter which confused me
2019-12-28 23:30:10 +0000 UTCWhilst I enjoyed what we saw, the whole thing felt rushed. Whether you liked/loved/loathed TLJ, it was essentially Battle of Starkiller part2 and didn’t do anything to further the over arching story. I’ve heard so many things behind the scenes (which I can’t verify so I won’t bother going deeper). This story should have been split into two movies and fleshed out. Is any fan going to complain about an EpisodeX

2019-12-28 09:15:52 +0000 UTCActually yeah, there was a huge argument before the film started, about people silencing their phones. It definitely didn’t detract, if anything it was entertaining

2019-12-25 02:03:40 +0000 UTCAny fellow moviegoers who detracted from or improved the experience?
2019-12-25 02:02:20 +0000 UTCCool I’ll check it out!

2019-12-22 02:29:36 +0000 UTCProbably Chewie’s death/switcharoo, and also Hux getting shot by Pryde.

2019-12-22 00:48:57 +0000 UTCThank Master Katarn!
2019-12-21 23:16:13 +0000 UTCThe force dyad is a really cool concept and I’m glad it’s finally been brought to the forefront of canon. I do wish they had explained it a little more in depth. The force object transference was totally dope and one of the cooler things they introduced. Those force bond scenes in general really improved how I think of TLJ. I think thats it exactly, Kylo was already running on empty thanks to palpatine when he brought Rey back. Healing someone is taxing enough but full blown resurrection could kill even a totally healthy person, let alone wounded ben. They didnt explain the dyad enough to really compare it to exile/kreia but in my headcannon it functions basically the same way I grinned when I heard kanan, i definitely heard ahsoka but couldn’t make out what she was saying. Bummed that this implies she’s dead.

2019-12-21 23:11:39 +0000 UTCWhat’s your opinion on the Force Dyad? - Do you like the fact that objects can be sent across space with this kind of force bond? - How did this work with essence drain/heal for Kylo saving Rey, since his essences were just drained by the senate. Is it a kind of jug half-empty kind of thing? - How do you think the Dyad differs from other force bonds of legends, such as the extreme case between the Exile & Kreia where they could feel each other’s pain and feed on their strengths? Quick Bonus question: What was your reaction to Ashoka’s and Kanan's voice. Really interesting facts in the movie, but skip if you {DONT WANT TO BE SPOILED THE VISUAL DICTIONARY} ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The lava planet where Kylo gets the Sith way finder is Mustafar and its located in Vader’s castle. The Sith troopers are divided into legions and are named after Sith lords. The 3rd Legion: Revan Legion (He's cannon boyyssss!!!) The 5th Legion: Andeddu Legion Thee 17th Legion: Tanis Legion (In the book it says she helped build the temple at Malachor - perhaps she is the voice we heard in the holocron) The 26th Legion: Tenebrous Legion (He’s also cannon now) The 39th Legion: Phobos Legion The 44th: Desolous Legion
2019-12-21 21:26:05 +0000 UTCThere was a throwaway line of dialogue, something like “ we’re getting reports of uprisings across the galaxy” it was glazed over pretty quick tho. For a second I thought that star destroyer was going to crash right into Cloud City lol And yes, it was a satisfying conclusion. The best possible saga ending, tho? I think we’ll never know; A perfect Star Wars ending is like nirvana. It’s unattainable, but I think they did a decent job considering they lost carrie early.

2019-12-21 19:26:52 +0000 UTCDid you feel like this was a satisfying conclusion to the whole 9 film saga? I thought it was a great conclusion to the sequel trilogy, though not necessarily to the saga as a whole. Also, maybe I missed something (have only seen it once so far) but why were all of the First/Final Order ships blowing up everywhere across the galaxy at the end?
2019-12-21 19:17:44 +0000 UTCRey is just fine, she’s not ‘too powerful’ as a character. Especially with the added context of all the Jedi living within her, and being a blood descendant of the most powerful sith in galactic history. I did like Rian’s idea of making her a nobody to show that anyone can be a Jedi, but tbh I liked the choices they ended up making with her.

2019-12-21 18:19:09 +0000 UTCOverall I enjoyed the movie, I had a few nitpicks but no major issues. As for Palpatine, I thought he was great. Ian’s performance was like, peak palpatine.
