berra shit, park footy, and DIY all aren't real street skating, but berra's shit has the added bonus of being dishonest and trying to fool the viewer. DIY and real pool skating share traits with street skating in terms of skating being a creative reuse of a space that was not alotted and designed for that. building a DIY or doctoring a real spot in a non-deceptive way are also part of the creative re-use of the space

A perspective I'm missing here which makes me wonder if maybe not many people share my opinion, is that there's a difference between patreon and Youtube content and when I'm asking for more content (and I've assumed when others did here as well) I mean low effort skate centered stuff on here, on Patreon. Kind of like non-live stream content where you don't have to edit tons but we get what we love from you. So far the vods have kind of been filling that hole for me. And I've been a loud voice demanding you branch out but where I wanted you to go was more political brainstuff and instead you've gone shooters and celebrities. Which sucks for me but a lot of people seem to like it so who am I to judge. All I would ask for is some more content on here like the steez tier list, Ted vid, the violet vid, etc. Not too fleshed out but nice and spicy. There's a lot of ideas in the comments on here for vids like that. As far as YT is concerned I wholeheartedly agree with everybody else, do what's best for you.

Dog you don't need to one up yourself every time, thats a super limiting mindest, pressuring yourself to be better will do nothing but keep you from being better. People love your content, myself included, and we're happy to just watch more of it, sure you can branch off, do art reviews, collabs with other creators, etc, but people love the hatelines, park reviews, part reviews, tier lists, you're just too in your own head.

I'm all for the content diversity, and get the appeal of covering less analytical topics, but so far the celebrity drama I've caught on stream has been pretty vapid. Obviously that'll draw a crowd in the way it's basically designed to do, but iunno if becoming SkateTheorist of gossip youtube is really the path forward. Regardless, been enjoying the videos wherever they end up.

I find the term “illegal trick” really annoying, I thought it was a joke but I hear wayyy too many people say it fully seriously without it being tongue in cheek. My favourite thing about skateboarding is the freedom of creativity and lack of rules (as corny as that sounds) I think when people use terms like this, the younger generation hear it and start limiting what they do on a skateboard and just copy what’s trending rather than completely doing what they want and enjoying the process. people like Rodney Mullen, mark gonzales, neil blender or more recently Ben Koppl, Gou Miyagi, Chris Milic, Matt tomasello, and Max Palmer, etc. have done plenty of “illegal tricks” but they also just look like they’re having the most fun. Maybe I’m looking too far in to it, I just think that certain language effects impressionable kids and then that’s why we end up with a bunch of little clones making fun of people at the park for doing a trick “wrong” because they watched a video on YouTube of what you “should and shouldn’t do in skateboarding” I’d actually love to see a video on this subject and know what other people think about it.
