Hello, everyone!
I apologize for this Progress Report being a day late, but I was within spitting distance of finally finishing off the Sombra sequence when Monday closed, and so I decided to delay for a proper announcement!
The Sombra sequence of Overbreed Episode 1 is FINISHED!
It clocks in at a hearty 34.5 minutes, and is by my estimates approximately half the total content of the planned video. This falls in line neatly when I place it up against the storyboard, which contains everything from beginning of episode to right where the Sombra sequence begins - and clocks in at an hour and 5 minutes.
The storyboard doesn't contain the post-Sombra sequence, which is the final narrative interim leading to episode end, but my rough napkin sketching based on what all I intend to cover post-Sombra only has that clocking in around 5 minutes maximum.
Meaning that, in totality, assuming my storyboards don't change at all and the final production is an exact 1:1 match in terms of timing, that my earlier projections of Overbreed Episode 1 clocking in around 70 minutes seems to be perfectly on-target.
To celebrate that fact, I am releasing out a combination of the storyboard and the entire Sombra sequence's blocking. A whole 65-minute WIP video, just for you all.
Before you get too excited, temper your expectations, and keep in mind that this is a 30-minute storyboard (just still images and subtitles) butted up against a 35-minute blocking video (only core motions and subtitles). There is no lighting, no audio, no voices, no detail animation. Hell, the first half of the video isn't even animated at all.
But this is to give a more clear direction of exactly how everything flows.
The animated Sombra sequence begins at 30:59.
With all of that in mind, let's talk the imminent future and plans for the rest of the episode. I discuss these plans in more details in last week's post, but I have already slated out this upcoming week, up till February 12, to work on Overbreed.
With the Sombra sequence now done, I am going to split that time up between working on finally storyboarding out the post-Sombra sequence and getting a runtime-complete projection of the video's length; and working on furthering the game design for the brothel game, so that the Saturday streams can finally return in full force and clear direction.
Once February 12 comes to pass, I shift over to preproduction work on Batcat. The details of what that involves will be discussed then.
I am super fucking excited to finally be done with this Sombra sequence. I hope you all enjoy this 65-minute behemoth of a WIP, and I hope that the rest of the production will go a lot faster. No more "one-month short turns into a five-month production slog" incidents would be a great start to that...
That's all for now! Until next week, everyone!
