Hello everyone!
I apologize for yet another delayed Progress Report. I was out of town for the weekend, helping set up, attending, and then helping break down some friends' baby-shower. It was a fun event, but it also resulted in it not being till late Monday evening before I got home, and by that time I had neither the energy nor the content for a Progress Report.
This past week was spent entirely working on game design for the brothel manager game. I did not intend for it take a week. The original plan was to just quickly write out a design that would get the game from zero to "playable, but devoid of content of variety" in a day or two, bring back the Saturday streams to start working on it, and then spend the rest of the week working on Overbreed.
It turns out, coming up with myriad minigames in sex-related contexts isn't as simple for me as I had expected it to be. Throw in the fact that I also decided to not only mock up the UI for all of the minigames, but to also put together some mock screenshots of how it would all look, and it all piled on.
I'm incredibly happy with what all I have gotten done over the past week, and I am pretty damn excited to start putting all of this together in Unreal, as part of the Saturday streams. This week's image is a mockup of the central minigame, prostituting. Below are the mockups for soliciting, which is a vital early-game mechanic (which is replaced with a more optimized receiving / receptionist mechanic in the mid-game). Soliciting is broken up into 3 discrete minigames: hooking, flirting, and brokering. Keep in mind these are NOT working prototypes, but mockups made with SFM and Photoshop.



The details will be shared later when I publish the design document, so for now I'll just say the core purposes of each stage: Hooking is for finding prospective clients, flirting is for figuring out what all that client likes, and brokering is for matching the client's preferences with the lady that best satisfies them.
Both soliciting and the later receiving will funnel clients and ladies into prostituting, where the goal is keep that client as satisfied as possible for as long as possible before they climax. The better you achieve this, the more they pay extra, which is an essential mechanic to success in the game.
With that being said, I am putting a pause on working on this game design. And by extension, putting a pause on gearing up to resurrect the Saturday streams. This month is specifically slated for working on Overbreed. I thought the game design would only be a day-or-two excursion, and has now taken a week with more work to go.
So instead, I am going to return my focus to Overbreed this week. As I've stated before, my goal is to get the Sombra sequence done. Once that goal is achieved, then I can return my attentions to this game design.
Because of this unintended distraction, I am adding another week onto my Overbreed work calendar, meaning the first week of February will also be dedicated to Overbreed. This ends up working well for the planned February short, which I believe I've stated before is a collaboration with InsideIncognita, my Elizabeth, Liara, and Moxxi voice. This gives her another week to write out the story we will be adapting into a video.
Finally, it is worth noting that I will be out of town this upcoming weekend as well. The aforementioned expecting mother has had her own mother living with them on and off for the past few years due to her health, but with the baby due in early March, they are moving her to a nearby 55+ community to free up a room for the baby. This upcoming weekend they are hoping for the final push to get her fully moved in, and for that, they need an extra pair of hands for loading and unloading the trailer with the heavy furniture. You'll never guess whose lending that extra pair of hands.
