PURE ONYX - September 30, 2021 Test Release!

Hey guys!

This month's test release is a patched version of the $10 tier release from last week.  I had hoped to squeeze more content in, but I was pretty consumed with design work for most of the month (check out yesterday's progress update if you haven't yet :D).  Anyways, I've kept the writeup for last week's release largely intact since it mostly describes this release as well minus a couple critical fixes.

The first major addition in this release is the first iteration of the Larva and Crawler enemies (expect more combat skills and FX for them soon)!  To make these guys stand out, Mr. Kittyhawk developed flocking/swarm AI behaviors, something we can use for at least a few other enemies down the road (Vioreapers defending nests, Ghoul robots, and Vorepup swarms to name a few).

Next up is the ability to manually reposition the camera during gallery H scenes!  We intend for the camera to track the scene automatically later, but since we're not sure how much later I pulled the trigger on a manual solution.  Since the gallery uses a more recent input handling method, we still have work to do to enable this feature in-game.

Another major addition is the inclusion of content filter settings.  AltairPL has constructed a comprehensive system that will swap enemies featuring filtered themes for replacements, that can bypass or replace H scenes, can differentiate between NSFW/SFW grapple scenes, and can differentiate between NSFW/SFW clothing damage.  Most importantly, the filter settings do not adversely affect gameplay/difficulty.  Transitions still need some work for filtered scenes, as right now it simply fades out from grapple scenes without any context.

You can also disable adult content completely with a master switch (be aware that active 18+ content will not be disabled until the current scene or effects end).  This will theoretically behave as a streaming mode, though I'd strongly suggest giving it some time in the testing oven before using it as such.

Lastly, I remixed the entire game's audio; sounds should sit above the music much better now, and overly loud sounds have been brought down.  You'll also notice new and varied combat sounds for Onyx, including SFX that were missing for her Heavy Punch and skid FX.

Console Commands

The game isn't balanced that great yet, so some people have asked if there are ways to bypass bosses or get some help.  You can use console commands for this while the game is still rough around the edges. Press the  ` (backtick/tilde) key to open the console.  Type any of the commands below and press enter.  Press ` again to close the console.

It's comments like this that net you broken games like CP2077 / every Bethesda game ^_-. You're effectively complimenting our programmers with this statement, so thanks I guess.

Majority of the changelogs seem to be bug fixes and minor feature adds, but where is the actual core content? Not trying to diminish any accomplishments here, but I'm fairly certain we all became interested in this project for the H scenes and models over anything else. Coincidentally (or perhaps not) that's the area that seems to be proceeding at the slowest pace. If polished gameplay and RPG mechanics were that important I'd just play a non-erotic game. I would have liked to continue to support this project but I think the apparent priorities are completely missing the mark.

Can the Wraxe v Fem cop scenes be triggered in mission? Is there a plan for NPC v NPC in mission H scenes?

Whats the fun surprise? Does luck increase the chance it occurs? Havent been able to trigger it. Also, the animation gallery should have an option to hide the menu on the left.

I agree with this post, mostly. I think the wardrobe stuff should be done after the game's 1.0 release date. But this isn't an open-world RPG. It's a beat-em-up. Other than stage design, and 5-10 more enemies, there isn't a whole lot more to do it looks like. It took them 3 months to release the femcop from design all the way through to playable. That means we can look forward to about 21 more months of development, or 1.8 years. Less if the team grows. It seems like adding spawn types is pretty easy for them. I'm of course not part of their team, just estimating based on what is done so far and their very steady, very measurable amount of progress over time.

Three things. Local save? Second. The fem cop sounds seem pretty low quality. Third, I don't think Onyx's bulge should be that much for the shock baton. Looks like she's getting skewered by Wraxe and it's thinner than a Splicer.

Curious question about the game's development. Do you already have a roadmap of most if not all your plans for enemies and h-scene flavors, or are you going in and learning what you could make as you go? I wouldn't discourage either approach but I was wondering in case there was ever a time where you may look for more ideas of the sort from either your audience or elsewhere.

Happy to see the larva enemy in the game, hope they "get some love" soon 😉 At the same time I am a little worried when reading about your plans for a skill system and clothing tier levels - you managed to stay clear of the "feature creep" until now that plagues many unreleased games, but with those ambitious plans of yours I see the release date just getting further and further away...

maybe I will seem boring, yes a little bit, but it seems to me you need a little more people per team, once a month (30 days) and so little new content, the game has great prospects in the modern realities of the gaming industry, but progress saddens me and makes me cry = T _________ T = I wish you success and increased productivity, I belive you can fly🚀

Maybe ^-^; they're a common enemy and I'd like more variety with the scenes, so it's possible.
