Callisto 0.50 - Week 8 Update

There are some minor tweaks required to give some context for a couple of the characters within the side mission. Generally though the modifications required are minimal. I quickly did a sample render this morning, to give you a sense of the style of this side mission. The marshal outfit that Kara is wearing is a recently released Daz asset, acquired using the funds raised via Patreon.

The bulk of the work last week was dedicated to the coding of the lewd interface and the creation of lewd animations. My recent practice in the creation of the pole dancing animations has increased the speed and quality of these lewd animations. As I mentioned last week, they are substantially easier in terms of joint movements than the dance animations. However with the lewd animations, the secret is paying attention to the small details. This has seen me spend considerable time tweaking things like facial expressions, hair posing and animating body shape to make them look more realistic.
As below, the interface used for the Lia lewd content has been adjusted for wider use. Rather than utilising symbols, that was rather confusing for many, I have defaulted to text labels. The option list is dynamic and will change based upon your progress in the main story and your relationship score with the crew member in question.

During the lewd content, the list will change based upon the level of arousal of the romantic interest. You will notice below that several of the buttons have a revised text colour from black to white. These mean that they are now selectable. Pink text indicates the act that is currently active and the blue colour is the button that is currently hovered with the mouse. This interface may be hidden by pressing the 'H' key at any time to allow you to view the clean animation.

The list above is a bit of a rough guide as to what will eventually be available for each romantic interest. The reason they all appear above is simply because I took the time to complete the coding and the creation of the buttons. I animated 3 of these acts last week, with the animation shown from a couple of angles and also at a couple of arousal states. This was done across 4 characters, hence 48 animations queued up for rendering so far. As I don't want the game development to devolve into spending the majority of time doing lewd animations, I am utilising a common base animation for various acts. Due to the difference in character design and minor tweaks to animations, I don't believe that they will become too similar. In future updates, I will include other locations and also other outfits available in this content. Via this decision, I am leaning on the GPU to do the work, allowing a larger portion of my time to be dedicated to the writing / coding and still images that are required for the main story.
I am expecting that completing the lewd animations for v0.50 will take about another 2 weeks (several further weeks for rendering), at which time I will shift focus to the miscellaneous events / backstories / news / minor story content. Still a large number of items to be completed, however thankfully due to real-life issues being sorted, now I have the time to focus on the task at hand.

- Base animation - 3 hours
- Character tweaks - 1 hour
- View / Arousal States - 15 min each
Hence if every lewd animation was completely unique, it would take about 4-5 hours per animation. Using common base animation, I create 16 animations in 10 hours or about 40 minutes per animation.
