Seven Sins System Chapter 576. I Can Accompany You

I made my way back to the dorm, slipping through the quiet corridors with the usual ease. It was early morning, the kind of time where most students were either still asleep or dragging themselves half-conscious toward whatever grueling schedule the academy had in store for them. But for me? It was business as usual.

I changed into my usual attire—the pristine white coat of a combat doctor, the one thing that kept my reputation clean in this place.

After making sure everything was in place, I left the dorm and walked to the infirmary. The halls were peaceful for once—no trio bursting in with their ridiculous antics, no Puriel waiting for me at the door like she usually did. It was weird, sure, but not something I was about to question too much. Maybe they were exhausted from everything that had happened earlier. Or maybe, just maybe, I was finally catching a break.

The infirmary was empty when I arrived, the stillness almost eerie. The scent of antiseptic lingered in the air, mixing with the faint traces of herbal medicine stored neatly on the shelves. With efficiency, I went through my morning routine. Checking the medical supplies took barely five minutes—everything was stocked properly, no missing items, no misplaced tools. Good.

With that done, I finally sat down at my desk, pulling out my breakfast. A simple homemade sandwich and a box of tomato juice. Nothing fancy, but it was enough to keep me going. I leaned back slightly, taking the first bite, relishing the moment of peace after the earlier chaos.

And then, just as I was about to take another, the door creaked open.

I sighed, already expecting some new problem to land in my lap. But when I looked up, it wasn’t the trio, and it wasn’t Puriel either.

It was Red.

She stepped inside and stopped a few steps away from my desk, bowing slightly.

“Master.”

I exhaled sharply, setting my sandwich down. “Tch. Just call me by my name,” I muttered. “It’s weird hearing you say that while I’m like this.”

She straightened, her expression unreadable for a moment before she nodded. “Understood.”

I gestured toward the chair across from me, already knowing she wasn’t here just for a casual visit. “Alright, what’s the report?”

She sat down, her posture as composed as ever, hands folded neatly in her lap. “I’ve finished the investigation regarding the temple,” she began, her tone steady. “It may be directly related to the recent influx of demons and angels into the mortal realm. No, I can confirm they are related.”

I frowned slightly, wiping my mouth with a napkin before leaning forward, resting my arms on the desk. “Go on.”

“There is a scheduled prayer gathering,” she continued. “Their followers attend regularly, and it is during these gatherings that the strongest magical fluctuations occur. The temple itself is ancient, yet its influence has been steadily increasing. I believe there is more to it than mere religious devotion.”

I tilted my head, mulling over her words. “Alright, so we can make our move today?” I asked, cracking my neck slightly. “I’m tired of waiting. You know patience isn’t exactly my strong suit.”

Red nodded, standing straight as ever, her eyes steady. “Yes. Today, they have a prayer schedule.”

I exhaled, stretching my arms lazily. “Go on.”

“At dusk,” she continued.

A slow smirk curled on my lips. “Great.” Finally, some action. “Send me the location to my phone. Puriel and I will handle it.”

There was a pause.

Red was silent for a moment, her expression unreadable, but I knew her well enough to know something was bothering her. Then she finally spoke again.

“Do you have to go with her?” she asked, her voice calm, but there was something underneath it—something almost hesitant.

I glanced at her, one brow raised. “What do you mean?”

“I mean,” she hesitated, eyes flickering with something complicated before she pushed forward, “I can accompany you.”

I sighed, rubbing the back of my neck. “I’d gladly take you with me if this only involved demons.” I leaned forward slightly, watching her closely. “But since this also involves angels, no. Angels have their own language—something similar to the demons’ ancient tongue. And only she can understand it.”

Her lips pressed into a thin line.

She wasn’t happy. I knew she wouldn’t be. But she tried to keep her composure, but I could see the tension in her shoulders.

I exhaled through my nose before patting my lap, gesturing for her to sit.

She hesitated for just a second before stepping forward, lowering herself carefully onto my lap. But the moment she settled, I could feel it—the stiffness, the frustration she was holding back.

I rested a hand on her back, the other idly brushing a strand of her red hair from her face. “You’re sulking.”

She huffed, looking away. “I’m not sulking.”

I smirked. “Oh, you definitely are.”

She crossed her arms, her voice cool. “I just think it’s unnecessary for you to take her with you when I am fully capable of protecting you.”

I hummed, running my fingers lightly down her spine, feeling the way she shivered slightly at the touch. “It’s not about protection, Red. It’s about strategy.”

Her fingers clenched against the fabric of my coat. “You always say that.”

I chuckled. “Because it’s true.”

For a moment, neither of us spoke. She just sat there.

Finally, she sighed. “If anything happens, you will call me immediately.”

It wasn’t a question.

I smirked. “Yes, ma’am.”

She shot me a flat look, clearly unamused. “I’m serious.”

I lifted my hands in mock surrender. “I know, I know. I promise, if anything goes to hell---- or heaven, I’ll call you first.”

She studied me for a moment, as if deciding whether or not to believe me. Then, finally, she relaxed slightly, leaning against me just a little.

“…I don’t like waiting,” she muttered.

I smirked. “Now that I believe.”

She huffed again, but I could feel her starting to settle, the tension in her shoulders easing just a bit. The morning was still quiet. Peaceful. It wouldn’t last, of course, but for now, I let myself enjoy it.

“Are you nervous?” she asked suddenly.
