Dragon King's Harem Chapter 430. That’s Not How Focus Works

Dragon King's Harem Chapter 430. That’s Not How Focus Works

She pulled back slightly, her breath warm against my lips. “You’re not resting,” she whispered.

I huffed a soft laugh. “Neither are you.”

She grinned, brushing her nose against mine. “Maybe I lied about wanting you to rest.”

I smirked. “I figured.”

Her lips found mine again, and this time, there was more urgency, more want. I felt her shift, pressing closer, her fingers still tangled in my hair. I slid my hand up her back, tracing slow, lazy circles against her spine, enjoying the way she shivered beneath my touch.

When she finally pulled away, her cheeks were flushed, her lips slightly swollen, her breathing uneven.

I ran my thumb over her lower lip, smirking. “This what you mean by relaxation?”

Evelina rolled her eyes but smiled. “You need to take a rest, Argod.”

I tilted my head. “Is that an invitation or a command?”

She grinned. “Maybe both.”

I chuckled, standing, and as I did, she grabbed my wrist, pulling me toward the exit.

But before we stepped out, I acted on impulse. In one swift motion, I scooped her up into my arms.

Evelina yelped, her hands immediately flying to my shoulders as she clung to me. “Argod—!”

I smirked, carrying her effortlessly as I stepped out into the corridor. “What? You started this.”

She huffed, shifting slightly but not resisting, her arms still looped around my neck. “That doesn’t mean you can just carry me through the palace like this.”

I raised an eyebrow. “It absolutely does.”

She let out an exasperated sigh but didn’t argue further. Instead, she buried her face into my shoulder, as if that would shield her from the gazes that were already locked onto us.

Because, of course, we weren’t alone.

The moment I stepped into the hallway with Evelina in my arms, the guards stationed along the corridor turned their heads, some immediately averting their gazes in practiced discipline, while others—especially the younger ones—stared outright. The servants and maids passing through slowed in their tracks, some whispering, others smiling knowingly.

This wasn’t the first time I had done this, and it wouldn’t be the last.

I had never cared about public displays of affection. My palace, my rules.

But Evelina? She wasn’t exactly used to it.

I felt her tense slightly, and when I glanced down, I caught sight of the bright red flush creeping up her neck and into her cheeks. She turned her face away from prying eyes, trying to bury her embarrassment deeper into my shoulder.

I smirked. “This isn’t the first time I’ve carried you, but here you are, blushing and all.”

She scoffed against my shoulder. “Isn’t that normal?”

I hummed, adjusting my hold on her just to tease her. “Normal, I guess. But… you should expect this if you decide to seduce me in the first place.”

Evelina gasped softly, her head snapping up as she glared at me. “I seduced you?”

I grinned. “Didn’t you?”

She pursed her lips, clearly flustered, then narrowed her eyes. “I was simply ensuring that you relaxed before your mission.”

I chuckled. “Right. Relaxation, you called it.”

She sighed dramatically, shaking her head. “Why am I even arguing with you?”

“Because you love me?”

Evelina blinked, and the redness in her cheeks deepened. She opened her mouth, then closed it again, turning her gaze away.

I smirked. “See? No comeback.”

She muttered something under her breath, but it only made me chuckle as I carried her further down the hallway.

By the time we reached our destination, a handful of servants had scattered out of the way, though I caught glimpses of amused smiles and whispered conversations.

Finally, I set Evelina down gently on my bed.

She straightened her dress, clearing her throat as she tried to regain her composure. “You enjoy making a scene, don’t you?”

I shrugged. “It’s not my fault people love watching us.”

She rolled her eyes, though the small smile tugging at her lips betrayed her amusement. “One day, I will get back at you for all of this teasing.”

I leaned in slightly, lowering my voice. “Oh? Looking forward to it.”

She huffed, shaking her head as she turned slightly away, her fingers adjusting the folds of her dress as if distracting herself from my presence. But I didn’t let her.

Before she could step away completely, I reached out, tracing my fingers down her arm, feeling the slight shiver that ran through her. She froze for a moment before looking back at me, eyes questioning.

I smirked, my voice dropping to something softer, something heavier. “But for now… let me plant my seeds.”

Evelina’s eyes widened slightly before narrowing, her lips parting in protest. “But—”

I silenced her by leaning in, brushing my lips against the shell of her ear. “Yes, I have a mission tomorrow, which means…” My fingers trailed along her collarbone, slowly moving lower. “I’ll be away.”

Her breath hitched slightly, but she still tried to keep her composure. “And?”

I chuckled against her skin. “So… I need to get off my load first before I leave. You know, so I can concentrate better.”

Her cheeks flushed a deeper shade of red, but she still held my gaze. “That’s not how focus works.”

“Oh?” I tilted my head, letting my fingertips graze down from her face, over her neck, down to the soft curve of her chest, then lower still, over the fabric of her dress, down to her stomach, and further—until I stopped right where I wanted to.

Evelina sucked in a breath, her body tensing slightly beneath my touch.

I smirked, my voice turning into something almost possessive. “There’s nothing better than getting it out inside here.” My fingers pressed gently against her lower abdomen. “My wife’s womb.”

She let out a shaky exhale, biting her lip. “Argod…”

I lifted her chin slightly, forcing her to meet my gaze. “Draconis needs an heir.”

Evelina’s blush deepened as she swallowed hard, her expression torn between resistance and desire. “You’re impossible,” she muttered.

I smirked. “And yet, here I am.”

She exhaled slowly, her hands gripping my shoulders lightly. “You really think now is the time for this?”

I leaned in, brushing my lips against hers. “There’s no better time.”

Her resolve wavered. I could feel it in the way her body melted slightly against mine, in the way her breathing had quickened.
