Thomas & the Magic Railroad Explained Early Access + Updates

Even though there’s no recorded Russian accent Diesel 10 voice clips (That we know of), Neil Crone himself demonstrated what the voice would’ve sounded like in a TATMR interview.

After watching this, I think that SOME elements of the original script like the plot about the railway needing repairs and Diesel 10 being brought to the railway to help out, should've been the plot of the Thomas movie, and the Burnett and Lily story could've easily been it's own film about a kid trying to help her grandad restore an old steam engine he's thought would never run again while Boomer is looking for said engine or something like that(minus the magic element).

R.I.P Russell Means and Peter Fonda, they did just about neat with their roles (more so with Russell). I feel like they really should have left the scene with Burrent calling Stacy about Lily getting on the wrong train that leads to Shining Time, as it actually does show how much he’s concerned for her. I also think that they should have left the scene where after Thomas came back though the buffers Lily apologies for leaving him behind up on Muffle Mountain, as it showed that she forgot and felt bad. Another reason why Edward didn’t appear was that Phil Fehrle (the Producer) said there wasn’t enough screen time for him to add in any real value during production.

Interesting that the Big City Train Station scene filmed at the Amtrak station (All aboard Amtrak!) in Pennsylvania was filmed on September 12th, 1999 which was the same day the Thomas episodes James and the Trouble with Trees and Make Someone Happy aired on TV in the US on Storytime with Thomas (I’m still wondering why you didn’t mention Storytime with Thomas in your Season 5 retrospective). Also, when I had the Thomas and the Magic Railroad DVD, I was wondering where the Sundae Surprise deleted scene would’ve been in the movie and it totally makes sense that it would’ve been right after Mr. Conductor calls Junior while he’s at the beach, which would explain why he says that he’s taking one last sip of his sundae.

There’s also some behind the scenes shot that has bugged me since it came out and to me it’s supposed to be the chase scene passing by the sheds but I don’t know And yes I have a life minus this movie

This sir was a very interesting video. I think looking back at all the revisions, the original May 1999 script with splices from the August 1999 script would be my preferred choice. I still feel the movie was going to fail from the get go with the inclusion of Shining Time and magic. I feel that with all the comedy moments, it also lost that nuance that classic Thomas excelled at. And as much as it pains me to admit it, I think cutting George out from the movie was actually for the best. Not only is his story arc so small and insignificant but I think it actually doesn't make much sense. George despises Railways not steam engines, he hates anything that runs on them, steam or Diesel. So why have him join forces with the Diesels. That being said I do love his arc in the Parody of this Movie by MCF1406.

I think you missed the different designs for splatter and dodge, how Percy and James were supposed to be at the end scene after the chase, lady’s telepathy, and the scene of George sending a boulder to stop splatter and dodge Yeah I know too much but I agree that this was a pleasant watch and makes me think the movie wasn’t that soulless in the end

Something I just remembered concerning Magic Railroad: The original Thomas website around 2000, when the hype was still high, there was a page where you could submit questions to Sir Topham Hatt, and he would (eventually) give you a sincere thought out answer, and I asked him what happened to the characters introduced in Magic Railroad, and also where Edward was. He said that Splatter and Dodge were given a second chance and continued working on the railway because they defected from D10, but were forbidden from appearing in the TV series as punishment. Lady remained on the Magic Railroad to keep it running, and Diesel 10 was simply "missing". He also said Edward took him and his family on their holiday, which is probably where that idea came from in the fandom.
