Which of these topics are you most interested in?

After a long period of demotivation and creative block, I'm getting back into a variety of readings with a view to writing a new video. I know most of you are looking forward to my new videos regardless of the topic, but I wanted to check which of these topics there's generally more interest in:

1) Film photography is one of my own hobbies, and I recently started reading Roland Barthes' Camera Lucida (after reading Susan Sontag's On Photography last year). That alongside Derrida's discussions of photography could probably provide some video material. Specifically, right now I'm thinking of the topic of the discomfort of being photographed yourself.

2) As with photography, though I'm a complete amateur, architecture has been steadily growing as one of my personal interests. As most of you will know, I'm most interested in modernist architecture, especially eastern bloc architecture and post-war modernism in general. I've also read a bit of Robert Venturi's Learning From Las Vegas, which is one of the most influential postmodern texts on architecture, and could provide an interesting point of contrast with modernist approaches.

3) Historical videos, like the one on the German revolution or urban guerrillas, can be pretty fun to research for, so I'd be down to make another one. The last book I finished reading was Florida's Working Class Past - when you have a place that's such a political wasteland it can be interesting to try finding some traces of radicalism in its history, though I'm not sure if it would make for a good video yet. If you have any suggestions for a historical event or period I should cover, let me hear it!

4) Music is another interest of mine, as indicated by my video on post-punk. As shown in previous polls, I've thought about making a video on industrial music, its socio-historical context, and the ways it was anticipated by futurism. Another potential topic would be the birth of electronic music in the early Russian Soviet Republic, as the first decade after the October Revolution saw some wild and unprecedented musical experimentation.

Let me know what you think of these topics. None of these video ideas are certain yet, I just want to have some indication of which of these topics I should prioritize when reading.

Thank you for sticking around. Hope you have a great weekend!

What manifestos/theory texts by architects would you recommend in particular? I'm still pretty new to the field

Cuck Philosophy

I am an architect and hoping for a video on architecture. 1900's writing by architects contains a lot of manifesto and eclectic borrowed theory and I think it highlights the crisis architecture went through. A lot could be said also about the very presentist way architects interpreted ancient texts by vitruvius etc and also remains of old architecture. I often feel ashamed by the weak theoretical basis of my discipline

Glad your back ✊😊. Look forward to your next output! I picked two of the four topics as I slightly favoured them over the other two, but I'd be happy with a Ceika creation on whatever you feel inclined towards.
