Name something you laughed at
Added 2024-11-11 00:45:39 +0000 UTCCurrently writing my video script on Bergson's philosophy of comedy, and to test it out some more, I thought I'd ask my patrons: What's something that made you laugh recently? Could be something that happened, a joke, an image, a movie scene, anything. If it ends up being particularly illustrative, there's a chance I'll use it in the video.

Not a recent example, but I love it. In 2018 was watching El Angel in a movie theater in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. There was that scene where main character is captured by authorities and his mother is playing a piano at their house. Suddenly, one of the piano’s keys can’t move, it is blocked by something. She opens up the instrument and finds stacks of bills hidden there. At this moment a guy in the audience starts laughing. There was nothing comical in the scene, it was deliberately sad, but the guy was laughing. You could tell he wasn’t a young guy, so probably he was during the 90s, times, when banditry peaked. You keep wondering why the hell is he laughing and the only explanation comes to your mind - he’s been in the same situation. The audience was slowly picking up the laughter as more and more people realized why the guy started to laugh on the first place.
