The video is out!!!
Looking at classical Marxist theory to find out what a proletarian is, and what distinguishes productive and unproductive labor to clear up some commonly held misconceptions. I hope you'll find it helpful!
Video script is attached to the post.
Thank you!
That's exactly right, because his analysis of capital and wage-labor is precisely an analysis of the capitalist system specifically. Applying this analysis to socialism would make no sense. Socialism would either have a completely different notion of "productive labor", or no productive labor at all. In fact, in some cases the young Marx saw communism as the overcoming of labor itself

Marx’s apparent decision to classify “productive labor” as that which produces capitalist profit seems to be a poor word choice in retrospect. So according to Marx, no labor under socialism can be considered productive? I wonder if something isn’t being lost in translation.

Idk…I think the notion that some laborers aren’t deserving of solidarity because their work isn’t considered meaningful or worthwhile is a pretty intuitive attitude to have in capitalist societies. It’s also an attitude that is prevalent irl (see how ppl talk about baristas or fast food employees)…so any pushback on the notion seems good to me

Meh, appreciate the effort that went into this and all you do. Just don’t really care for the petty left semantics. The left is useless and saturated with posturing narcissists- that logo Daedalus tweet is the perfect example. Let’s see some more phenomenology! ^_^
