BONUS VIDEO: Reviewing Bryan's Bad Kids' Books
Added 2024-10-08 14:26:22 +0000 UTCHi, everyone! If you watched to the end of the final YouTube version of Project Blueprint & the Horror of Eternal Life, you know that Bryan Johnson spent a few years as a kids' book author; writing one book about some kids with an AI sidekick, and another about "how you shouldn't be on welfare" (that's a very uncharitable read, but I stand by it).
Here's my review of those books!
In a few days, I'm giving away my annotated copies of both books to patrons at the $12 tier and above. I've filled them up with dumb jokes about the books' sloppy prose and confusing themes, and also called out a number of easter eggs that only true Bryanheads like myself could spot. I think they'll make fun little souvenirs – look out for that!

Sorry for the necroposting, but, I just watched this video and this guy is... I mean, he's terrifying. It kinda touches me that he's my age, and I am worried about getting older, because it's not pleasant, I guess, but in trying to "not dying" he's basically surrendered his humanity? I was experiencing this mixture of repulsion and pity until I reached the point when you explain how he got rid of her girlfriend who got cancer. And what gives life meaning, if it's not death?

2024-10-15 14:06:21 +0000 UTCWait, does he think the sky is the same color every day? Like, I can ignore the magical thinking where everyone is surprised at the big reveal because he can't imagine that painting a mural (even a boring one) would take time and effort... But it's not even going to match the sky most of the time.

2024-10-12 04:23:59 +0000 UTCI'm hardly an expert in children's literature (although I did publish one story in an anthology for children), but I think your reviews were spot on in terms of what children are looking for as readers.

2024-10-09 19:55:13 +0000 UTCInteresting that the books don't really have a lot to say, despite the "code for success" theme. Besides, what is a kid supposed to do with "AUTHENTICITY" or "BECOME"? (Amusingly, it seems to be almost impossible to search for that "compete, innovate, redefine" clip because you just get sincere articles waffling on about innovation.) Very much enjoyed Clementine's determination to be on camera as much as possible
