EARLY ACCESS: What Are Women?
Added 2022-04-19 05:12:47 +0000 UTC
Back in full force, buds, with my longest video yet: "What Are Women?"
This one is about what it means to be a woman, from the birth of modern gender 12 000 years ago up to today. It's about how the anti-trans movement weaponizes this question to gain public support, and why every definition of "woman" ultimately fails.
This version isn't totally final - no text in the credits and the sound might be a little wonky - but it's basically done.
I really hope you enjoy! I'll check in soon with some info on what else is coming.
xoxo Lily
Thanks a bunch!

Just finished watching the public version of the video because I didn't have time to watch it before. But as usual a fantastic video! You put a lot of thoughts and conversations I've had with my psychologist to words.

Wonderful take - I really like the resistance to try to find a tight definition. Something as central to the way society has tried to group about half of everyone is going to resist simplicity - and you always do too. Thank you for this video!

This is a really interesting piece. Going into it, I was hoping you'd address some of the colonial/antiblack consequences of gender, and I was very happy - but not at all surprised - to hear such an indepth analysis, particularly from someone who consistently puts out such well-researched and wide-reaching videos on seemingly simple topics. I hope that it's well received by others on the broader internet and not just on Patreon, and I'm sending well wishes and good vibes that nobody takes this as an opportunity to perpetuate hateful speech and ideas, either against you or in general. Thank you for another fantastic video!! :)

I think about Andrea Long Chu all the time. Her work frustrates me in a lot of ways but at the same time... what an ICON, y'know?
