10/6/24 Writing Update

Just a quick update to let you know the progress on the next books.

Warlock, Book 2, is in the works and at 92k of an expected 120k words. It should be done by the end of the month (followed by revisions and editing), so I'm expecting it to be released before the end of the year. I'll be posting it here when revisions are done for those who'd like an early look and can tolerate the typos. :)

I'm also starting a new series that will be reverse-portal and may or may not have some litRPG elements.

For those of you who like my writing style and might be interested in other genres (space opera, mil scifi, and some darker steampunk) I write in, you can find my work under J.A. Sutherland and Richard Grantham. Those pen names are all fade-to-black, though, no sexy-times.

I just finished Warlock 2, and came to check out your Patreon…had no idea you were also the author of the Carew series!

Great thanks!

Ben

Thank you for the suggestion - that's something I'll definitely add to the list of extra content to create. It'll probably be after book 2, though, because I think I want to be in Felicity's head for those stories and we'd hear some spoilers.

Thank you for your support! The annual option will come in a couple months -- Patreon restricts it for new creators and the page has to be active for three months before it's available.

I just finished Warlock 1 and I really liked it! Couple questions- 1) Would you consider writing a short edition on some of Felicity's and Noahs prior moments before he became a warlock? I would really like to read Felicity's reaction to finding Noah for the first time for example. 2) Would you consider adding a yearly subscription for patreon at a discount? Like a year of the $10 tier for $100 or a year of the $5 for $55? I don't mind giving my support upfront to help this page get well established.

Ben

Sure. :) I write under J.A. Sutherland and Richard Grantham as well. https://www.amazon.com/stores/-/author/B00MY211DM https://www.amazon.com/Dubious-Intent-Dark-Artifice-Book-ebook/dp/B07B8X8RHW

Sample chapters probably after 11/15. I'll likely be ready with them before that, but I'm giving notice at the day job 11/4 and will have to work pretty hard there to handle turnover items.

Also you've said that you've published other books under a different name, do mind sharing what those books are? I'd love to give them a try. And I'm just realizing that I'm commenting on an older post and not the most recent one😅 oh well. Hopefully you still see this and respond

So when can we expect to start seeing advance chapters roughly? November? December?

I would be interested in something in the litRPG realm. I read a number of authors in that genre. Bruce Sentar being the only other author that I follow on Patreon. Lots of possibilities there to play with. He has a nice system of posting rough chapters of the current book he's working on for comment. (First part of the book for lower tiers and all of them for higher tiers.) It's a fun way to keep up with the stories. But kind of agonizing to only get a chapter at a time when things are getting good.

Really looking forward to Warlock 2 also. Very nice world building with interesting likeable characters. I hope Noah loosens up a bit and is accepting of the ladies close to him in the next book. Sometimes these characters can be a bit too thick headed. Of course there needs to be a balance. Great job so far!

I am looking forward to Warlock 2. The first book was one of my favorites from the recent releases in the genre.
