December Updates & Thoughts
Added 2024-12-07 19:48:11 +0000 UTCHappy Holidays, all! I hope you're enjoying all the anal and BDSM flavored shenanigans you're legally allowed to enjoy! If not, I hope you're at least enjoying similarly flavored smut!
Publishing Updates: I've published the Young Man's Guide chapters 7 through 10 and 2201 An Anal Odyssey on Hentai Foundry and Literotica. I've also moved them from Early Access to Published here on Patreon. So for you "Published and Musings" subscribers, you have some new content to consume! And a special thanks to Commodore for helping to edit the stories!
Universe Expanding: I'm kind of moving away from CHOYA. My primary interest in that site was always to see if anyone wanted to add to my universes with their own chapters. But so far, that hasn't happened. If you are interested in trying a hand at erotic writing and wanted to add your own chapters or spinoff to the AEU, AWI, TTSU, etc, or just some ideas in a similar vein, by all means reach out! I'm always happy to help spread the perversion!
Patreon: So, it's looking like ~85-90 active subscribes is my limit here on Patreon. I was wondering how big the market was for my particular flavor of extreme anal and BDSM writing. It's about as niche as I was expecting. Admittedly, my page hasn't even been live for a full year yet. So, there's always room to grow! I had always intended for this page to be an extension of my hobby, and not a real income generator. Regardless, I thank you all for being here and supporting my dirty imagination!
Episodes: Over the years, I've come to realize some of the shortcomings/limitations of my train of thought when it comes to writing serialized stories. I'll come up with a new setting and be all about moving an integrated serialized narrative along for half a dozen, a dozen, or maybe even more chapters. After that, I start losing steam on the setting's main story line and my imagination wanders off. While I will usually/eventually/sometimes come back, my mind likes to wander off on tangents. I like to write stories using the existing characters I've come up with in separate scenes. Or sometimes I'll even write completely standalone scenes using new one-off characters in an existing universe for a random idea that I had. Sometimes, I'll even combine them in one of my advertising/commercial stories .
The half-lie that I've told myself is that I'd eventually integrate these stories back in with the setting's main serialized storyline. But honestly, that just hasn't happened as much as I had intended. Which is why I have such an extensive backlog of mostly standalone stories using my existing characters. So, I think I'm going to just embrace the chaos! I'm going to start working through my backlog of stories, cleaning them up for publication, and release them as "episodes" in my existing universes. (The last ten or so chapters of the mainline APYWGTAE is already basically episodal in nature already.) Where and when these episodes fit into the main serialized narrative will be kind of up in the air. (And really, it's erotica, not a NYT best seller... So, who really cares anyway?!?) As I move the main storylines forward, I'll integrate these episodes in if they makes sense. So, we'll see how this idea works out going forward.
Comments
Thank you for your thoughts! I usually don't really have an over-arching "plot" in mind when I write. More just scenes and situations that I find fun, interesting, or hot. The Young Man's Guide is a little different. I had planned from the get-go to have the MC develop as the plot progressed. He really might be my only character who has shown actual growth over time! π Doing a story with a discreet plot instead of an open-ended setting to let my imagination run wild in is an interesting idea. I'll have to ponder that. That's not my normal MO.

2025-01-25 23:22:20 +0000 UTCI think losing motivation is very common among erotica writers over the course of a long plot. Sometimes the writer leaves the story unfinished as a consequence, sometimes the story meanders and then abruptly terminates. I do think stories are more rewarding when they have an introduction of tension, an increase in that tension, and then a satisfying resolution to it, and I think it would be worthwhile to experiment with storytelling techniques more likely to provide that. For example, at the time you write the first episode, you could sketch out for yourself a very general idea for what the tension is, how it's going to build, and how it's going to resolve. You could also deliberately limit yourself to (e.g.) five episodes in order to keep your mind focused on where the story is going and how you're going to get it there in the episodes you have left. For what it's worth, I think your latest story (Proper Young Man's Guide) might be some of your most structured work to date - MC can't get no respect, MC starts figuring out how to get respect, MC resolves outstanding tensions with family, girl next door, etc. - and it's stronger for it.

2025-01-25 20:06:18 +0000 UTCFair point. To be honest, I might be the only one who really cares about continuity! :D

2024-12-09 19:45:28 +0000 UTCMy friend, I enjoy your work too much to notice whether each and every story you post integrates neatly into this or that story line. It is nice that there is some tie-in, but only because I already know the background of the story world.
